Jonathan David is in the form of his life.
He's had a phenomenal season for Lille so far, scoring 17 goals and registering 5 assists in 26 appearances across all competitions.
As the calendar year came to a close, the Canadian Men’s National Team forward made his mark by ranking fourth in goal contributions (goals + assists) across Europe’s top five leagues in 2024. With 47 G/A, he sits just behind Liverpool’s Mo Salah, Bayern’s Harry Kane, and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé on the elite leaderboard.

Now, the question is: Why is no big club signing him? The Jonathan David saga has been going on for quite a few years now, and yet he still remains at Lille.
Club president Olivier Létang ruled out selling him this January window in an interview with RMC Sport in November of last year.
"He will not leave in January" said Létang (translated from French). "Jonathan's situation is super simple. We're very happy to have him with us. Last off-season, he had one year left on his contract. We could have qualified for the Champions League. When you've got a lad who scores 20-25 goals a season... We weren't hung up on having to sell him. In fact, we had no offers. Our position was very clear from the outset: we were thinking in sporting terms. Jonathan, of course, already has an offer (to extend his contract) in his hands. The choice is his." Létang told RMC.
Jonathan David has long been linked with some of Europe's top clubs, such as Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and more, but none of them went beyond the initial whispers.
Last week, David was crowned Canada Soccer's Men's Player of the Year.
He was also named Ligue1 Player of the Month in November.
