Canadian Premier League fans will need no introduction to Aribim Pepple — or simply, "Bim."

The former Cavalry striker has been in fine form in England's third tier with Plymouth Argyle, finding the net regularly and attracting interest from clubs both at home and abroad, including one in Canada.

The 23-year-old signed for Plymouth permanently on July 4, 2025, after a series of loan spells in England from Luton Town, and his move has proven to be the turning point. "Bim" scored nine times in his last 14 appearances, chipping in with an assist along the way, including five goals and an assist in February alone. His side sits 11th in the English third tier, 6 points off the last playoff spot while enjoying a good start to the year.

His performances have been on a sharp upward trajectory, and a standout display against Cardiff City last week — in which he scored twice and set up another in a 5-2 win — earned him the man of the match award and turned heads across clubs in England, with Celtic and CF Montréal among those keeping a close eye, according to the Daily Mail.

While interest in the player is at an all-time high, TrueNorthFoot understands that Pepple would prefer a move in the summer rather than an immediate switch to Montreal — or MLS — at this stage. European transfer windows closed at the end of January and do not reopen until around June, shutting again near the end of August. Montreal are well-stocked at the number nine role with Prince Owusu and Daniel Ríos, and should Bim ever make the move to La Belle Province, competition for that striker spot would be fierce.

Canada, a dream for Bim

Pepple is 'desperate' to represent the Canadian national team, according to our source, with a place at the FIFA World Cup in June firmly in his sights. With Promise David facing a recovery of three to five months with a tendon rupture, a spot in the striker role may have just opened up.

Jonathan David has been deployed as a second striker or in the number ten role during recent Canada matches, leaving Tani Oluwaseyi and Cyle Larin as the primary depth options at number nine.

With Pepple's recent form and Promise David's injury, it would be surprising if Jesse Marsch wasn't keeping a close eye on the Plymouth striker.

But where does the Canadian connection come from?

The Kettering, England native moved to Calgary at the age of five, growing up in the city. He came through the youth ranks at Eastside Memorial FC and Calgary Foothills FC before earning a trial with Cavalry FC, signing his first professional contract with the club in 2019 and remaining there until the end of the 2020 season, before joining the youth setup at Spanish side Getafe.

Pepple returned to Cavalry in 2022, scoring six goals in five matches and breaking the Canadian Premier League record for the longest goalscoring streak. That form earned him a transfer to Luton Town, who loaned him to Grimsby Town for the remainder of the season. After an unsuccessful spell with the Mariners, he went out on loan to Bromley, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Southend, and finally Chesterfield.

Last July, he was permanently transferred to Plymouth Argyle in a deal reported to be worth £250,000, with the potential to rise to £600,000, according to the Daily Mail.
