Toronto and Vancouver battled to a goalless draw at BMO Field.

The Whitecaps started strong, dominating possession and keeping Toronto pinned in their own half, though Sean Johnson remained largely untroubled.

The first half ended without much excitement, as Toronto failed to register a shot on target, while Vancouver's early momentum faded.

No changes were made at halftime, but in the 53rd minute, Toronto was forced into substitutions, with Henry Wingo and Deandre Kerr exiting due to injuries, replaced by Kosi Thompson and Ola Brynhildsen.

Just five minutes later, Vancouver faced injury trouble of their own, as Andrés Cubas suffered a shoulder injury and had to be subbed off. Pedro Vite and Emmanuel Sabbi came on, with Jayden Nelson also making way.

Shortly after the hour mark, Federico Bernardeschi received a yellow card for a late challenge on Tristan Blackmon.

Toronto made two more substitutions shortly after, with Tyrese Spicer replacing Derrick Etienne and Deybi Flores coming on for Alonso Coello.

The Reds registered their first shot on target in the 76th minute, as substitute Tyrese Spicer fired from outside the box, but Yohei Takaoka made a comfortable catch.

Daniel Rios made way for Ali Ahmed, joining Brian White up front. Edier Ocampo replaced Mathias Laborda, and in his first action of the game, the young Colombian fouled Lorenzo Insigne during a counterattack, earning himself a yellow card.

Off the free-kick, Toronto got its first real chance of the game, as Deiby Flores found himself unmarked inside the box and directed a header on target, but Takaoka reacted quickly to punch it away.

In the 88th minute, Sean Johnson made a crucial save, stopping Ranko Veselinovic’s awkward header right on the goal line.

Vancouver made their last substitution of the match right before the 90, with Jeevan Badwal replacing J.C. Ngando.

In injury time, Federico Bernardeschi had a half-hearted attempt on goal, but Takaoka had no issues.

Edier Ocampo found some open space to take a shot, but his attempt went straight into the hands of Sean Johnson.

The hosts had several chances in the dying minutes, with the ball bouncing loosely inside the box after a corner, but the 'Caps managed to clear it away.

The Reds remain winless this season, with four losses and two draws in their first six matches.
