Cavalry picked up their fourth straight win thanks to a 3-1 road victory over the Wanderers on Monday evening.

Sergio Camargo returned to the starting lineup for the visitors, while Michael Baldisimo returned to the bench after a lengthy absence from competition. Niko Myroniuk would start in place of Ali Musse, who did not make the trip with the Cavs for personal reasons.

For the Wanderers, the pair of newly acquired loan players, Liam MacKenzie and Nelson Pierre would begin the match on the bench, with Marco Carducci returning to goal after sitting out last week's loss.

Halifax looked the better side in the opening quarter-hour. The home side held a commanding share of possession, and Adonijah Reid and Jason Bahamboula both sent chances off the woodwork, but neither were able to secure a go-ahead marker.

The match would remain scoreless through an otherwise uneventful first half, with both sides heading to the break hopeful of securing all three points.

Eryk Koza would replace Myroniuk to open the second half. Myroniuk was shown a yellow in the opening 45, so the visiting staff were likely looking to prevent the 21-year-old from potentially being sent off.

Moments later, Nathaniel Edwards would put Cavalry ahead with his fifth goal of the season, finishing off a brilliant sequence of one-touch passes from Cavalry's offence.

Liam MacKenzie and Nelson Pierre would both enter the match in the final 30 minutes for the Wanderers, with desperation growing from the home side.

Tobias Warschewski would double the Cavs' advantage in the 64th minute, corralling Adam Pearlman's cross completely uncontested and easily chipping the ball past Carducci.

The defensive miscues would not end there for Halifax, as Sergio Camargo would capitalize on a miscommunication between Finn Linder and Lorenzo Callegari and put the result beyond doubt for the visitors.

The Wanderers would, however, pull a goal back late. A brutally timed challenge in the box by Curtis Ofori gave the hosts a penalty within the final 10 minutes. Isaiah Johnston would force Nathan Ingham to go the wrong way and effortlessly direct the ball to the right side of the keeper.

With the loss, Halifax now sit 10 points out of a playoff spot with seven matches to play. They will next see action on Saturday when they travel to Supra, who are also on the outside looking in, in what should be a highly contentious match, with either side needing three points to realistically stay in contention.

Cavalry retain first place with the win and will travel across the country to play Pacific on Sunday. Cavalry have four wins in four matches against the Tridents this season, but cannot discount the improved recent form of the Vancouver Island side.
