It's a great win for Vancouver, who sent the Seattle Sounders back home with a 5-1 victory over their bitter rivals.

The Whitecaps got things going immediately, with Bruno Caicedo's great play setting up a dink to Brian White, who headed it past Andrew Thomas to give Vancouver a 1-0 lead within a minute.

It was goals in back-to-back games for White, who had gone almost the whole month of October without scoring, but the American forward seems back to his scoring ways with the MLS Cup Playoffs on the horizon.

Vancouver wasn't done with that; they hounded the Sounders for a second goal, and it came in the ninth minute when Édier Ocampo's cross was crushed into the near post by Ryan Gauld, who had also scored in back-to-back games.

A candidate for MLS Comeback Player of the Year, the Scotsman scored his seventh goal of the season, tallied two assists across all competitions, and now looks like his past self from a couple of seasons ago after recovering from that major knee injury.

The Sounders finally started to create chances, but nothing was truly threatening from the Whitecaps' perspective, with Yohei Takaoka comfortably saving a long-range strike from Dejan Joveljić.

Aleksa Cvetković got close to a third, but his effort didn't have enough curl to find the bottom right corner.

The third arrived with two minutes to stoppage time, when a delicious Ryan Gauld cross was headed in by Mathías Laborda to make it 3-0 Vancouver.

It was Laborda's fifth goal, adding to his three assists in MLS play this season, and the Uruguayan continued to prove his importance to this Whitecaps side.

After Bruno Caicedo and Jesús Ferreira were respectively shown yellow cards, referee Alexis Da Silva blew for half-time. The Whitecaps had seemingly won the game after just 45 minutes.

The second half resumed with Brian Schmetzer making four changes at the break, given that the Sounders looked lost after the first period.

It didn't take long for Vancouver to put another one past Andrew Thomas: after another good piece of work from Bruno Caicedo on the left-hand side, he played it across to Brian White, who slid in the fourth.

It was a major goal for White: not only had he reached 20 goals in a single MLS season for the first time in his career, but the American officially reached 100 goals for the Vancouver Whitecaps across all competitions, becoming just the second ever player in the club's history to reach the milestone after Domenic Mobilio was the only player to have reached that feat.

Just after the hour mark, the Sounders finally scored. Jordan Morris latched onto a through ball from Albert Rusnák and slotted it past Yohei Takaoka to spoil another potential clean sheet for the Japanese shotstopper, who had cruelly missed out on one against San Diego FC after making some big saves on Wednesday.

The Whitecaps made their first three changes right after the goal, with former Forge FC player Kwasi Poku finally making his club debut after replacing Brian White, while both Cheikh Sabaly and Ranko Veselinović entered for Bruno Caicedo and Édier Ocampo.

The game slowed, but not until Vancouver scored a fifth: Aleksa Cvetković controlled Cheikh Sabaly's low ball before poking it in for a 5-1 lead.

Cvetković also scored in back-to-back games alongside Brian White and Ryan Gauld; the new import from OFK Beograd has already shown his quality in Vancouver's most recent games.

Ralph Priso would be given some minutes, replacing Ryan Gauld, who was arguably the Player of the Match.

Yohei Takaoka would deny Dejan Joveljić late into the game. The final substitution saw Mihail Gherasimencov replace Tate Johnson.

Hassani Dotson and Paul Arriola would miss great chances later in the game, and that would be it after an uneventful four minutes of stoppage time.

Next up for the Whitecaps is their Decision Day clash away from home against CF Montréal on Saturday, November 7, with kickoff set for 2:00 pm PT / 4:00 pm ET.
