The Vancouver Whitecaps have one more task to put themselves in the best possible spot heading into the playoffs, and that task is to beat the Seattle Sounders tomorrow.
Here's everything you need to know heading into the game!
How the Vancouver Whitecaps enter this match
It's a great time to be a 'Caps fan: thanks to results elsewhere, the club has secured the top seed in the Western Conference and has therefore qualified for the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup.
Part of the reason they got the job done was Wednesday's result, when they dominated San Diego FC in a 4-1 win on their return to BC Place Stadium.
All that's left is to finish ahead of the New England Revolution in the Supporters' Shield table and put themselves in pole position to host the MLS Cup if they reach that stage, so Jesper Sørensen's side needs a win.
How the Seattle Sounders enter this match
Sounder fans are on the edge of their seats; the club holds the final wildcard spot by a single point, with Real Salt Lake's loss against the San Jose Earthquakes meaning they can clinch a playoff spot with a win against Vancouver plus a Houston win or draw against Portland.
The Sounders were taken down by the Houston Dynamo on Wednesday by a 1-0 scoreline in a game where they dominated from an attacking perspective.
Sitting in ninth position, a win is necessary for Brian Schmetzer's side, with a usual MLS giant on the cusp of not making the playoffs for just a second time in club history.
Head-to-head
This will be the fourth meeting of the season: after the Seattle Sounders took the first two games in the Concacaf Champions Cup by 3-0 and 2-1 scorelines, the Vancouver Whitecaps won the lone clash in MLS action at Lumen Field, where goals from Rayan Elloumi and Thomas Müller secured a 2-0 win that also won them the Cascadia Cup.
In this rivalry's storied history, the two sides have faced off 58 times across all competitions. The Sounders hold the lead with a 26-16-16 record.
The Whitecaps have been trying to close down that gap in recent history, and they enter this one as the favourites.
Availability
For Vancouver, Kenji Cabrera, Andrés Cubas, Belal Halbouni, and Emmanuel Sabbi will remain unavailable, while Jeevan Badwal is out with a hamstring injury. Rayan Elloumi is out due to suspension after receiving a first career red card at the end of Vancouver's 4-1 win over San Diego.
For Seattle, Pedro de la Vega, Yeimar Gómez Andrade, and Nikola Petković are confirmed to be missing from tomorrow's clash, while striker Danny Musovski is questionable with a head injury.
