The Whitecaps continued their strong start to the 2025 season, securing a 2-0 victory over CF Montréal in matchweek 3 of MLS action. Fullbacks Mathías Laborda and Tate Johnson provided the goals to seal the win.
Vancouver started the match on the front foot, controlling possession and creating chances, though none were particularly dangerous.

17-year-old Aleksandr Guboglo, the youngest player in club history to start an MLS regular season match, saw his header cleared off the goal line by Tate Johnson.
Minutes later, Prince Owusu attempted an overhead kick, but his effort went wide.
In the second half, the ‘Caps, once again, got off to what they do best.
In the 49th minute, Tate Johnson fired a volley into the turf and past the keeper, doubling Vancouver’s lead.
Three minutes later, Pedro Vite got a fantastic shot past the entire defence, with Jonathan Sirois coming to the rescue and preventing the third goal.
The Ecuadorian midfielder had another chance later in the half, with his shot once again being saved by the goalkeeper.
Prince Owusu almost found the net at the death to get a goal back for the Impact, but his header hit the underside of the crossbar.

The Whitecaps are back in action in just four days, traveling to Mexico for the second leg of their Concacaf Champions Cup round of 16 matchup against Monterrey after a 1-1 draw in the first leg.
