The nightmare every Vancouver fan feared became reality.
Ryan Gauld, the heartbeat of the Whitecaps' attack, landed awkwardly after an uncontested header in his side's 2-0 win against fellow Canadian rivals CF Montréal.
Clutching his left leg, he couldn’t leave the pitch on his own and had to be helped off by the coaching staff.

Gauld joins a growing list of injuries at the Whitecaps, with Sam Adekugbe and Jayden Nelson both suffering injuries that will keep them off the fields for quite some time.
Vancouver travels to Mexico to face Monterrey in Leg 2 of the Concacaf Champions Cup this Wednesday, having drawn 1-1 in the first game despite deserving more.
