It's a must-win game for Tigres, who, after earning two wins from penalty shootouts, find themselves in fifth place. Not only will Tigres need to beat Vancouver, but they will also have to rely on one of Club América, FC Juárez, Cruz Azul, or Club León losing.

In their most recent game, they defeated Minnesota United on penalties after a 0-0 draw in regulation time.

Still without a win in this new season, Tigres will be looking to defeat an already eliminated Vancouver side.

How the Vancouver Whitecaps enter this game

It's been a poor run of games for Vancouver.

After their 3-1 loss to FC Juárez on Friday, the Vancouver Whitecaps head into this game with only pride to play for, as they will also look to avoid any new injuries.

The World Cup break has certainly killed the Whitecaps' momentum, as they've only recorded one win in the six games since returning to action.

The last meeting between these two sides came back in 2024, as Tigres pummeled the Whitecaps by a 3-0 scoreline at the Estadio Universitario during the second leg of a Concacaf Champions Cup Round One clash.

Overall, Tigres have dominated the five games against Vancouver, recording three wins and two draws, while outscoring the Whitecaps by nine goals to three.

Players to Watch

Tigres' star player comes in the form of attacking midfielder Juan Brunetta. The 29-year-old Argentine has consistently been one of the club's best players since arriving from Santos Laguna. So far in the 2026/27 season, Brunetta has recorded two goals and two assists in five games, including Tigres' lone goal in the Leagues Cup. If Tigres are to have any chance of advancing tomorrow night, Brunetta will likely be at the centre of it.

A player who has had terrible luck with injuries, Whitecaps fullback Sam Adekugbe is likely to receive minutes tomorrow night, and on his day, he is a great asset at left-back. The 31-year-old Canadian international started Vancouver's opening Leagues Cup game against Atlante FC before being an unused substitute against FC Juárez, so it's likely Adekugbe will play under a minutes restriction. As he continues to get up to speed, could he have a huge performance tomorrow in Mexico?
