BY TRUENORTHFOOT PUBLISHED ON JANUARY 13, 2025 (MODIFIED ON JAN 13, 2025)

Jesper Sørensen will be named the Vancouver Whitecaps' new head coach this Tuesday.

GlassCity first reported the news, which was later confirmed by Transfermarkt's Manuel Veth.

Sørensen previously managed Danish giants Brøndby IF from the 2023 to 2024 seasons, losing the first division title in the last round in his first full season.

Jesper also brings experience from the Danish U21 team, as well as stints with clubs such as Fredericia, Silkeborg, and AGF, all based in Denmark.

The Vancouver Whitecaps finished 8th in the Western Conference under Vanni Sartini last season. They dominated Portland with a 5-0 victory south of the border in the playoffs, earning a Best-of-3 series against LAFC, where their postseason journey ultimately came to an end.

The Whitecaps kicked off pre-season training this Monday. The team will play friendlies before heading to Costa Rica February 20th, where they’ll face Deportivo Saprissa in the first leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup Round One, marking their first official match of the year.
