Hello Vancouver, and welcome back to this week's edition of Vancouver Weekly! It was a busy week for the four Vancouver sides, so let's jump into the action!

Vancouver Whitecaps
Once they start winning, it's hard to stop them from wanting more!
The Vancouver Whitecaps ended August on a high note, grabbing a 3-0 win against Sporting Kansas City away from home.
The Whitecaps now have a four-point gap ahead of second-place Houston Dynamo while having a game in hand!
While new signings Aleksa Cvetković and Sebastián Ramírez weren't in the matchday squads, both are now officially available for games, though they need to build some match fitness.
More arrivals are coming for the Whitecaps, with striker Yadaly Diaby and right back Rui Modesto set to arrive from French side Grenoble Foot and Italian side Udinese Calcio, respectively. A senior slot must be freed up for both signings to go through, with midfielder J.C. Ngando the likely candidate to leave the club, but nothing is confirmed.
Striker Nelson Pierre was recalled from his loan spell at USL Championship side FC Tulsa, but has been loaned out to the Halifax Wanderers for the remainder of the 2026 Canadian Premier League season. Halifax are also set to acquire midfielder Liam Mackenzie on loan for the rest of the season, which will be announced in the coming days.
The 'Caps will have two games this week, hosting the first leg of their Canadian Championship semifinal clash against CF Montréal at BC Place Stadium on Wednesday, before hosting St. Louis City SC on Saturday.
Those two matches will kick off at 7:00 pm PT / 10:00 pm ET and 7:30 pm PT / 9:30 pm CT, respectively.
Vancouver FC
The Eagles are enduring tough times after a great stretch of form.
Vancouver were defeated by Cavalry FC 1-0, with Bradley Kamdem-Fewo's second-half header making the difference at ATCO Field. It would get worse for Martin Nash's side after Lys Mousset was forced off due to injury just after the hour mark.
They remain fourth, ahead of fifth-placed Supra — their next matchup — by five points with an extra game played.
The Eagles will take on the Quebec side on Sunday at The Stadium at Langley Events Centre, with kickoff set for 3:00 pm PT / 6:00 pm ET.
Vancouver Rise
Playing until the final whistle!
The Vancouver Rise were in action at Swangard Stadium, grabbing a dramatic 2-2 draw against the Calgary Wild that included a header from Jessica De Filippo in stoppage time.
That goal puts De Filippo into double digits for the season, making her the first Rise player to hit double figures in one season, while Latifah Abdu did achieve this last season; she got five goals with the Rise and the remaining six with the Roses.
In terms of the standings, the Rise remain in fourth place with a two-point lead over the Halifax Tides, who lost their third straight game.
Anja Heiner-Møller's side are now unbeaten in three matches, looking to continue that form in this business end of the regular season.
The Halifax Tides will be in town on Saturday, when the Rise faces them for the fifth and final time of the 2026 Northern Super League regular season. Kickoff at Swangard Stadium is set for 4:00 pm PT / 8:00 pm AT.
Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2
Two strong results that won't mean much.
WFC2 had some excellent results over the past week; on Wednesday, they destroyed LAFC2 by a 4-1 scoreline. Canadian forward Marius Aiyenero opened the scoring for the visitors, and after Isaac Boehmer denied DeCarlo Guerra from the spot for a second goal, Rich Fagan's side took complete control, with Liam Mackenzie securing a first-half brace before Daniel Ittycheria scored a second-half header. Érick Díaz would be shown a straight red card moments later, and Johnny Selemani added to the tally with a stunning strike from distance.
Some surprising news was dropped on Friday: forwards Daniel Ittycheria and Cyprian Kachwele had mutually agreed to terminate their contracts with the club, with the latter also terminating his loan deal with CPL side Halifax Wanderers.
Yesterday, they played even better against Sporting Kansas City II. Cristiano Bruletti's nifty flick, followed by a composed finish from Carson Rassak, gave WFC2 a 2-0 advantage after the first half, before Johnny Selemani made it three after a nice solo run in the second half. Trevor Wright made it four after a scramble in the box, and despite a late goal from Missael Rodríguez that spoiled the clean sheet, Johnny Selemani scored another long-range stunner, sealing a 5-1 win at Swangard Stadium.
Unfortunately, due to other results, those two wins meant nothing in terms of playoff contention, as the club is officially eliminated from qualifying after making the previous two editions of the MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs.
Three games are left in the club's 28-game schedule. The next match comes next week on Monday, when they face Portland Timbers 2 at Providence Park, with kickoff set for 1:00 pm PT.
