It's a crucial game out in Utah: Real Salt Lake hosts the Vancouver Whitecaps to finish off the Canadian MLS sides in action this matchday.

How Real Salt Lake enters this match
It's been a difficult stretch for Pablo Mastroeni's side; in their last eight games, they've lost six and drawn twice.
In their most recent match, New York City FC came to America First Field and recorded a 2-0 win after Nicolás Fernández Mercau and Luighi scored goals in each half to sink the hosts.
Currently in eleventh place, a win tomorrow would be huge for Real Salt Lake, and with plenty of climate advantages for the hosts, it's a big opportunity to find points against a slumping 'Caps side.
How the Vancouver Whitecaps enter this match
The Vancouver Whitecaps have struggled in their last five matches, winning once, losing three times, and drawing once.
In their most recent match, CF Montréal recorded a controversial 2-1 win to send themselves into the Canadian Championship Final after Prince Owusu scored a first-half brace. At the same time, Emmanuel Sabbi scored in stoppage time of the second half.
Currently top of the Western Conference, the Whitecaps sit only three points clear of FC Dallas and Houston Dynamo, so they need a win to stay on top, and they are expected to take the win against a struggling RSL side.
Head-to-Head
This will be the second meeting between these two sides in 2026, after a lone Aziel Jackson goal secured a 1-0 win for Vancouver on opening day of the 2026 Major League Soccer season.
That win has given the Whitecaps a slight lead in the overall head-to-head series: the visitors have recorded 16 wins and five draws, while the hosts have secured 15 wins.
However, Real Salt Lake has historically dominated Vancouver at America First Field, with a 10-4-3 record, though the Whitecaps won the most recent match at Salt Lake with a come-from-behind 3-2 win sealed by Pedro Vite's late stunner.
Players to Watch
A real revelation in Salt Lake's squad is 23-year-old draft pick Sergi Solans. The towering Spanish striker has been chipping in the goals for the side, recording eleven goals and three assists across 26 appearances in all competitions. Standing at 6'1 and 81 kilograms, Solans has the profile of a target man while providing physical play in the final third. Four of his nine goals have come from his head. In his first professional season, Solans is already causing trouble in the league, and against a shaky Vancouver defence, the Spanish forward will look to wreak havoc in the Whitecaps' area and test Yohei Takaoka.
While the team has dropped a bit in form, 28-year-old winger Emmanuel Sabbi has been the opposite. After a rough start that saw him only record two goals and two assists, the American has turned it up since the beginning of August for the club, recording four goals and one assist in his last ten matches. Still providing the dynamite he usually does on both flanks, the return of club captain Ryan Gauld has really helped Sabbi, who will be looking to record yet another goal or even an assist against a Real Salt Lake backline that has been handed plenty of injuries.
Availabilty
For Salt Lake, Zach Booth, Griffin Dillon, Lukas Engel, Justen Glad, Sam Junqua, Diego Luna, and Stijn Spierings were all absent in the most recent match for Pablo Mastroeni, with Luna now confirmed to miss the remainder of the 2026 MLS season. Junqua and Spierings were listed as questionable, so they're likely available tomorrow night. Juan José Arias suffered an injury against NYCFC, which will keep him out for up to eight weeks. Canadian international Luc De Fougerolles is yet to receive his visa, with no exact timeline provided.
For Vancouver, Kenji Cabrera, Belal Halbouni, Kwasi Poku, and Ranko Veselinović will likely remain unavailable due to injuries. Thomas Müller and Ralph Priso played on Wednesday against CF Montréal, so they will likely be ready to go. Tristan Blackmon did sustain an injury during that match, but was able to complete the remainder of the match.
