Prince Owusu is extending his stay at CF Montréal, signing a new contract that will keep him at the club through at least the 2027-28 season.

The German forward has impressed since joining the Bleu-blanc-noir from arch-rivals Toronto FC, scoring 17 goals and tallying three assists in 40 matches across all competitions — five more goals than he scored with the Reds in five fewer games.

Owusu was named Montréal's MVP for the 2025 season. "Prince's contract extension represents an acknowledgement of the consistency he has brought to the Club since his arrival," said Luca Saputo, son of owner Joey Saputo. "His on-field achievements routinely reflect the daily leadership he demonstrates to his teammates. We're very pleased that he has committed to our project."

The contract extension includes options for the 2028-29 and 2029-30 seasons, using MLS' Targeted Allocation Money.

"Montréal has become a special place for me," Owusu said in a statement. "Extending my contract with CF Montréal is a source of pride, and I’m grateful to the club’s Sporting staff for its trust. I’m eager to continue this journey with my teammates and look forward to seeing our supporters again soon at Stade Saputo."

The 28-year-old forward enters his second season with the club in what will be a crucial campaign. Montréal registered one of its worst seasons ever in 2025, winning just six games across all competitions, finishing third-worst in the Eastern Conference and the MLS group in Leagues Cup, while falling to a Canadian Premier League side at home in the Canadian Championship for a second consecutive year.

Montréal has brought in Dagur Dan Þórhallsson from Orlando, Brayan Vera from Real Salt Lake, and academy products Félix Samson and Josh-Duc Nteziryayo.

The club has also confirmed several departures: Tom Pearce, Fernando Álvarez, Bryce Duke, Giacomo Vrioni, Alessandro Biello, Matías Cóccaro, and Dante Sealy, who was transferred to the Colorado Rapids for $1.9 million in General Allocation Money.
