The third meeting of 2026 between Cavalry and Supra was characterized by a dominant share of possession from the Québec side and few scoring chances in either direction.

The Cavs were without Daan Klomp for the first time in 2026, as the Dutch defender was away from the team recovering from lingering issues. Michael Baldisimo and Goteh Ntignee remained absent, but Bradley Kamdem Fewo returned to the XI, pushing Levi Laing into Klomp's usual centre-back role.

The Dutchman's absence was noticeable immediately, with Cavalry's back line looking out of sorts throughout the night. To make matters worse, Amer Didic was forced to miss a few minutes during the match due to a minor injury. The towering defender ultimately played out the 90, but Cavalry will be hoping that the upcoming six days of rest can return their lineup to a greater level of overall fitness.

Sean Rea was absent for Supra, forcing Nicholas Razzaghi to shift to a 4-3-3 in the dynamic midfielder's absence. Thomas Lebeuf returned to the lineup after a two-month absence, joining Matisse Chrétien, Keesean Ferdinand, and Charles Auguste in the back line. The midfield three consisted of Safwane Mlah, Alessandro Biello, and Omar ElKalkouli, while the attacking three were David Choinière, Loïc Kwemi, and Clément Bayiha.

The first half was almost entirely uneventful, with Cavalry ending the opening 45 minutes with a shockingly low 0.01 expected goals, while Supra also generated little toward Nathan Ingham's goal. Cavalry's Eryk Kobza picked up a yellow in the 31st minute, which will see him suspended for accumulation in Cavalry's next match.

The visitors swapped out their midfield in the opening phase of the second half, with James McGlinchey and Caniggia Elva replacing Kobza and Harry Paton. For the hosts, Ibrahim Condé and Aboubacar Sissoko came in for Kwemi and Bayiha.

Sissoko made an impact shortly after being introduced, corralling a corner inside the box and blasting a shot into the top right corner of Ingham's goal in the 80th minute. The Cavalry keeper managed to get his fingertips on the attempt, but the effort was just too strong and put the hosts up 1-0.

As the home squad and supporters grew more certain that the three points would be theirs, Cavalry were given one last chance to find a way past Joakim Milli. Tobias Warschewski's perfectly placed corner found Caniggia Elva in the box, who made no mistake redirecting the ball into the goal with a header, foiling Milli's bid for his first CPL clean sheet.

The full-time whistle saw both squads earn a point, though Supra may feel they deserved more, while Cavalry may feel lucky to escape with one. The two sides will meet once more in the regular season, when Cavalry host on Friday, September 25, for another meeting under the lights.

Looking ahead, the Cavs will return to action next Saturday when they host Forge in a match between the two CPL Shield frontrunners. A win for Cavalry would see them eclipse the Ontarian side and move provisionally into first place.

Meanwhile, Supra will take on Atlético Ottawa in Leg 2 of their 2026 Canadian Championship tie on Tuesday, August 11. Supra are carrying a 3-1 aggregate lead into the fixture after a spectacular home performance last month, but will need to be resolute in defending their advantage.

In a scheduling quirk, both sides' next CPL match is also against one another. Sunday, August 16, will see the two playoff hopefuls face off at Stade Boréale. A win would not be enough for Supra to move into fourth place, but it would pull them within three points of the final berth with a match in hand, setting them up for an inaugural-season playoff push.
