Two of the worst sides in the Canadian Premier League (statistically) go head-to-head tomorrow evening.

The Halifax Wanderers return to Wanderers Grounds, as they take on a Pacific FC side that has been struggling for a while now.

Here's everything you need to know heading into tomorrow's game.

How the Halifax Wanderers come this match

Despite hiring Vanni Sartini in the offseason, the Wanderers have had a lacklustre season in 2026, sitting seventh with a 2-3-5 record, with both wins coming against Vancouver FC.

Their most recent outing saw Forge FC take a 1-0 win at home over Halifax, with a lone goal from Brian Wright.

With the Wanderers only left in the CPL following an early cup exit, they won't find a better opponent than Pacific FC to overturn their struggles.

How Pacific come into the match

The best word to describe Pacific right now is dreadful.

It's now 21 games without a win for the Tridents, as that trend continued in their most recent game, as Vancouver FC took a 2-1 win after goals from Kian Proctor and Damiano Pecile cancelled out Marco Bustos' opener.

Sitting nine points away from the final playoff spot, if Pacific FC wants to salvage anything from this horrible season, the turnaround must start tomorrow evening.

Head-to-head

The most recent meeting between these two sides was interesting for a neutral.

Back in mid-April, after Alejandro Díaz opened the scoring, a header from Cyprian Kachwele and a penalty from Isaiah Johnston gave Halifax a lead, and it was set to finish as a Halifax win after Josh Heard was sent off. Still, a stunning equalizer in stoppage time from Bul Juach rescued an unlikely point for the Tridents.

In the 28 meetings between Halifax and Pacific, the away side holds the edge with 11 wins and 10 draws, while the hosts have won on 7 occasions.

Halifax have defeated Pacific FC by a 3-0 scoreline on two separate occasions, as it happened in 2022 at Starlight Stadium, and most recently in 2024 at the Wanderers Grounds.

Pacific holds the largest win margin in the series, taking down Halifax by a 5-0 scoreline in the Island Games back in 2020, as Terran Campbell, Alejandro Díaz, and Victor Blasco scored on the day, while Marco Bustos recorded a brace in the first half while also earning two assists.

Players to watch

Halifax's standout in 2026 has been captain Isaiah Johnston, who has been enjoying a decent start to the season. The 24-year-old Canadian has recorded four goals and two assists so far, with three of those goals coming from the penalty spot. A central midfielder by trade, Johnston has also appeared as an attacker, making him Vanni Sartini's Swiss Knife due to his versatility. Don't be surprised if he plays a crucial part in tomorrow's game.

While there hasn't been a standout performer on Pacific FC's side, one man who could provide a spark is Yann Toualy. The 25-year-old winger has been alright in his second season with the Tridents, providing two goals and an assist in ten games. While the numbers don't seem particularly impressive to the neutral, the eye test shows that Toualy is arguably Pacific's best attacking outlet thanks to his dynamic playstyle. If Toualy gets up and running tomorrow, it could be a long day for the Halifax defence.

Availability

Lukas Browning-Lagerfeldt continues to remain unavailable for the Tridents, as he continues his recovery from a knee injury.

No one from the Wanderers has been reported as unavailable for now.

Pacific FC's Christian Greco-Taylor is a booking away from a one-match suspension for yellow card accumulation.
