Cavalry rolled to a 5-0 dismantling of Inter Toronto on Saturday night, delighting the 3,800 supporters at ATCO Field. The Cavs have now outscored Inter 11-2 across their three meetings in 2026, including a 10-1 aggregate scoreline in their two victories.
Eryk Kobza and Harry Paton returned to the lineup for the hosts, with Paton starting in an attacking role alongside Tobias Warschewski as the home side shifted to a 4-4-2 formation. After an impressive substitute appearance against Supra, Owen Antoniuk earned his first professional start in midfield alongside Kobza, Sergio Camargo, and Ali Musse. With Bradley Kamdem Fewo still sidelined through injury, Levi Laing once again started at left back, rounding out an otherwise familiar back four with Daan Klomp, Amer Didic, and Adam Pearlman. Nathan Ingham also returned in goal after Joe Holliday's standout performance in his absence last Tuesday.
Mauro Eustáquio opted for a 3-4-3 setup featuring a largely familiar lineup. Beni Badibanga, Julian Altobelli, and Sebastián González led the attack, with González making just his second start of 2026. The midfield four consisted of Kembo Kibato, Ollie Bassett, Steffen Yeates, and Jesse Costa, who made his first CPL start. Oswaldo León, Carlos Guzmán, and Raúl López completed the back three, while Ivan Pavela continued in goal, facing a relentless Cavalry attack throughout the evening.
Inter held a slight edge in possession during the first half, but Cavalry created the bulk of the scoring chances, registering nine shots, including three on target.
Cavalry opened the scoring in the 17th minute after Klomp delivered a long volley to a streaking Warschewski, who squared the ball for an overlapping Pearlman to finish and give the home side an early lead.
Play swung back and forth for the remainder of the half, but neither team could find another goal. Cavalry came closest after striking the post, though they went into the break with their one-goal advantage intact.
In a rare occurrence compared to the previous meetings between these clubs, referee Carly Shaw-MacLaren did not issue a single yellow card before blowing the halftime whistle.
The second half began with an early Cavalry corner that was cleared by Pavela, but newcomer Antoniuk collected the loose ball outside the box and blasted home his first professional goal in the 51st minute. The U SPORTS graduate was greeted with a lengthy ovation from the home crowd, and the emotion on the 23-year-old's face was evident as he celebrated with his teammates.
Cavalry extended their lead 10 minutes later after a high press from Warschewski forced Pavela into a poor pass. Warschewski pounced on the loose ball and found Ali Musse alone in the box, where the winger hammered home his first league goal of the season.
Nathaniel Edwards put the match beyond doubt by scoring his second goal in as many matches. The substitute cut in from the wing and curled a strike from just outside the penalty area into the far corner, beating Pavela with an effort nearly identical to the one he scored against Supra earlier in the week.
Fellow substitute Caniggia Elva also got on the scoresheet inside the final 10 minutes, heading home a Warschewski free kick to complete the 5-0 rout.
Cavalry have now scored 30 goals in 15 league matches in 2026, six more than Vancouver FC, who sit second in that category. The Albertan side will travel to Québec to face Supra for the second time in less than two weeks on Saturday, August 8.
Inter, meanwhile, have now gone eight straight league matches without a win. They will travel to Vancouver Island to face Pacific FC on August 8, the same side they last defeated. With the two clubs sitting seventh and eighth in the table, points will be critical as the playoff race begins to slip away.
