French club Toulouse is finalizing a deal around $2.5 million plus add-ons to sign Canadian international Jacen Russell-Rowe from the Columbus Crew — who will retain a sell-on clause — according to Tom Bogert of The Athletic.
The 23-year-old forward is under contract until the end of the 2026 season and wanted a move to Europe.
'Les Violets' sit 8th in Ligue1, the first tier of French football, and sit a few points below the European spots.
Russell-Rowe joined the Crew’s MLS Next Pro side in 2022 and immediately made his mark, scoring an impressive 26 goals in 23 appearances. His performances earned him the 2022 MLS Next Pro MVP award, the Golden Boot after leading the league with 21 goals, and a place in the MLS Next Pro Best XI.
That form paved the way for a first-team contract, with Russell-Rowe making his senior debut later that year. Since then, he has gone on to score 22 goals and register 10 assists in just over 100 appearances across all competitions for Columbus.
A product of the Toronto FC academy, Russell-Rowe joined the club’s youth setup in 2017 and made a single appearance at the semi-professional level the following year before moving to the United States in 2022.
