A familiar face is coming back to the Canadian Premier League.
Diyaeddine Abzi is set to sign with FC Supra, according to Maxime Truman, with the defender already joining the squad for pre-season camp.
The 27-year-old will be back on the pitch after serving a two-year ban following a failed drug test for marijuana administered by the French Anti-Doping Agency during his time in France.
Abzi played for York United (now Inter Toronto) between 2019 and mid-2022, before earning a transfer to French side Pau FC.
A year later, he was loaned to Spanish second-division club CD Leganés, where he made five appearances before the club opted not to activate his purchase option.
In June 2024, Abzi was suspended for two years following the failed test, with the ban set to expire on March 27 this year.
While his stint in Europe did not go as planned, his time in York was far more successful. The left-back made 76 appearances across all competitions for the Nine Stripes, scoring eight goals and adding nine assists. At the end of the 2021 season, he was ranked fourth in the league’s list of top players.

The league’s newest club took to the pitch for the first time on Wednesday, January 21, in Laval, Québec, inviting 32 players — half of whom are unsigned — to the dome at the Complexe Multi-Sports de Laval.
As of January 21, 16 players have been signed, with Abzi set to become the 17th.
