The four Canadian clubs learned their Round One opponents for the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup on Tuesday.
- Vancouver Whitecaps (🇨🇦) vs. CS Cartaginés (🇨🇷)
- Cruz Azul (🇲🇽) vs. Vancouver FC (🇨🇦)
- Nashville SC (🇺🇸) vs. Atlético Ottawa (🇨🇦)
- Tigres UANL (🇲🇽) vs. Forge FC (🇨🇦)
The Whitecaps avoided San Diego in the draw, landing Costa Rican side CS Cartaginés. Los Azules are currently in their league’s semi-finals, where they’ll face giants Saprissa in the coming week.
Vancouver FC received one of the toughest possible matchups, drawing Mexican powerhouse Cruz Azul. The Eagles, who finished bottom of the table in the CPL this season, will need to do a lot of work during the off-season.
Atlético Ottawa will face a Major League Soccer team for the first time in their history, taking on Nashville SC. The club says it will provide updates on the venue for its home leg once confirmed. With TD Place under renovation until the start of the CPL season in April, the most realistic options for the first leg are York Lions Stadium in Toronto or Hamilton Stadium.
Forge, meanwhile, will once again meet Mexican opposition, drawing Tigres UANL. Since their first appearance in the competition in 2022, they have only ever drawn LigaMX opponents.
