Terry Dunfield brought Sami Keshavarz and Max Piepgrass back into the Tridents' XI, hoping that the pair's youthful energy could counter Cavalry's veteran stability. For Piepgrass, Sunday would mark the first time the young Calgarian would play against his former squad after parting ways earlier in the summer. The 22-year-old would go on to play an impactful 90 minutes, highlighted by drawing four fouls and forcing Nathan Ingham to make a sprawling save in the latter stages of the second half.
For Cavalry, notable inclusions to their XI saw Niko Myroniuk make his second consecutive start at right wing and Eryk Kobza return to the defensive midfield alongside Sergio Camargo.

The win extends Cavalry's advantage at the top of the standings, putting them four points clear of second-placed Forge and setting up a pivotal clash between the two shield frontrunners next weekend at Spruce Meadows.
For Pacific, the loss ends their three-match unbeaten run, but confirms their recent improved form and demonstrates their ability to compete with the league leaders. The Tridents will have the chance to bounce back next Saturday against provincial rivals Vancouver FC.
