It's rematch hour, Canada.

The CanWNT and USWNT are set to meet for the first time in 2026 on Wednesday night at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field, home of MLS' Columbus Crew, in the marquee matchup of this year's SheBelieves Cup.

Both teams' 2026 SheBelieves Cup started off with a win last Sunday, as Canada dealt Colombia a 4-1 blow in the competition opener, while the United States battled to a 2-0 win over a feisty Argentina side.

A renewed rivalry

For most, little has to be said of the competitive gravity of the Canada-U.S. rivalry. Friendly or otherwise — more the latter, of late, given the current climate — this matchup has yielded fireworks as of late.

Just take the sour taste of last month's Olympics women's and men's hockey gold medal matches as memories a Canadian need not bring up.

Even just on the pitch, this fixture has thrown up plenty of drama, despite the lopsided head-to-head advantage for the Americans, standing at 54 wins, nine draws, and just four losses against the CanWNT.

Most recently at the 2024 SheBelieves Cup Final, the last time these two sides met in this competition, the U.S. triumphed 5-4 on penalties, in the very stadium for Wednesday's match, as Évelyne Viens was denied by Alyssa Naeher.

Then, of course, there's also last summer's win for the U.S. in Washington D.C., the day after Canada Day, which marked the start of a difficult second half to 2025 for Canada.

One that's quickly fallen into the rear-view after last Sunday's win.

Last time out

In many ways, Sunday's 4-1 win over Colombia was making up for lost time for Canada.

The goals returned in abundance, and from a variety of situations and sources, as Vanessa Gilles and Janine Sonis netted from set-pieces, and Sydney Collins and Nichelle Prince wrapped up the win from free-flowing, open play.

But beyond the goals, other small but tangible moments made the performance feel like the scars of 2025 had begun to heal.

First, there was the energy in the press. Then, there was Jade Rose guiding Real Madrid's Linda Caicedo out of play as if the Colombian wasn't even there.

And of course, Gilles' 'Tanc' moment, drawing a yellow card out of Gisela Robledo, which eventually led to Robledo's dismissal.

It's the joy and confidence from those moments, the latter something that Stoney told reporters on Tuesday, "the squad is brimming with," that they'll need on top of the technical quality to emerge victorious on Wednesday.

Availability

Casey Stoney will have most of her squad from the weekend available, aside from Julia Grosso, who picked up a training knock prior to Sunday's win over Colombia.

U.S. star forward Trinity Rodman is 'expected to be available' for Wednesday night, per Emma Hayes' Tuesday availability. Rodman was a casualty of a hard-nosed Argentina side on Sunday, alongside left-back Lilly Reale. The latter withdrew from camp on Tuesday due to a foot injury suffered against Argentina.

Projected XIs
