An end-to-end battle filled with glory, misery, and plenty of drama saw Atlético Ottawa share the points with Inter Toronto at TD Place Stadium. Here are some talking points from tonight's entertaining fixture.

Great first-half performance from Atlético Ottawa

It was a terrific first 45 minutes for the Ottawa-based side, who played on the front foot and created plenty of chances. Otléti held 75% of the possession in the opening half and recorded 11 shots, four of them on target. Off the ball, Otléti pressed aggressively, forced Inter Toronto into mistakes, and frustrated their opposition. Some solid goalkeeping from Diego Urtiaga bailed out the reeling Inter Toronto side, who looked likely to concede in the opening 45 minutes. However, Inter Toronto were able to hang on and escape Ottawa with a much-needed point, ending a run of four straight defeats.

Ballou Tabla continues to show his quality in terrific team goal

Atlético Ottawa looked to build on their dominant first-half performance after the break. Although they cooled off slightly, they were still the first team to find the back of the net, doing so through a brilliant display of tiki-taka football. The move started on the right side through solid play from Roni Mbomio and Emiliano Garcia, with the latter crossing the ball toward the back post to Joaquim Coulanges, who smartly played a first-time pass to Ballou Tabla. Tabla fired a low, driven shot into the bottom-right corner to open the scoring. It was his fifth goal in 12 CPL matches, as the Cameroonian-born Canadian forward continues to show his quality in front of the Otléti faithful.

Altobelli finishes one of his few chances

Julian Altobelli, like Tomáš Skublak and Ollie Bassett, had few opportunities to create chances, as a disciplined Atlético Ottawa side controlled the midfield battle for much of the game. Despite this, the Nine Stripes found an equalizer just two minutes after Tabla's goal. A sloppy mistake from Otléti youngster and Canada U20 international Sergei Kozlovskiy allowed Beni Badibanga to win possession and play a perfectly weighted through ball to Altobelli. The 23-year-old Toronto native then chipped the ball over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net. Christopher Kalongo will feel unfortunate to have conceded, as he managed to get a hand to the shot, but Altobelli's finish had just enough pace and accuracy to ricochet off the keeper and into the goal.

Both sides squander golden opportunities

Both players and managers will feel they could have taken more from this game, but poor finishing at both ends resulted in several wasted opportunities. The first came in the opening half when a hard-driven ball from Tabla found Emiliano Garcia inside the box, but the 22-year-old Mexican attacker mistimed his touch, and the ball rolled harmlessly out of play for a goal kick. Inter Toronto also let golden opportunities slip away, as chances for full-time footballer, part-time realtor Tomáš Skublak, and Peruvian striker Sebastián Gonzales both went begging after they missed open nets. All three players have shown their quality for their respective sides and will look to bounce back in the coming weeks.
