Vancouver FC will travel to ATCO Field for the first time in 2026 to take on Cavalry in a western Canadian showdown.

This will be the first of three meetings between the two sides in the final third of the season, with this match sure to set the tone for the remaining contests. Vancouver FC took a 1-0 home win against Cavalry in July, beating the Albertan side for the first time thanks to a Lys Mousset goal in the second half.

Cavalry come into the match with a chance to move back into top spot in the CPL Shield race, with title rivals Forge having suffered three recent defeats. The Cavs are 4-1-0 in their last five, including wins over Forge and Atlético Ottawa in recent weeks. After starting the season with a slew of clean sheets, Nathan Ingham and Cavalry's defence have been slightly more permeable in recent competition. Still leading the league in goals conceded, Cavalry have kept two clean sheets since the break but have conceded just a single goal in eight matches in that span.

The Eagles enter the week after back-to-back losses on a challenging road trip where they failed to find the net. Atlético Ottawa exploded for a four-goal outburst in midweek action, while the Wanderers managed a single tally on the East Coast to send Vancouver on the league's longest flight home without a positive result. Recent woes should not be used to count out Martin Nash's side, however. The squad recently took down Forge in Hamilton and still boasts the league's third-best goal difference at +4. Damiano Pecile has been superb for Vancouver thus far, scoring three goals and earning player of the week honours in late July for his impressive performance against Supra.

Availability

There has still been no update provided on Goteh Ntignee's status for Cavalry. Otherwise, the hosts are expected to have almost everyone available for selection on Saturday.

Vancouver made league-wide news this past week with the announcement of Emrick Fotsing's transfer to the Vancouver Whitecaps. While the young star has been loaned back to the Eagles for the remainder of the season, he will continue his recovery from an injury suffered while playing with Canada's U-20 team at the end of last month.
