2024 Canadian Championship draw revealed
BY TRUENORTHFOOT PUBLISHED ON FEBRUARY 23, 2024 (MODIFIED ON MAR 14, 2024)

The 2024 Canadian Championship draw –which wasn't publicly broadcast– has been revealed. Let's take a look at the match-ups.

Cavalry FC vs. Vancouver FC

The Cavs and the CPL newcomers will face off at ATCO Field for a spot in the quarter-finals, where the Vancouver Whitecaps await.

All-time, Cavalry and Vancouver have played each other 4 times, with the Cavs coming out victorious in 3 occasions, with the other match ending in a draw.

Atlético Ottawa vs. Valour FC
Ottawa and the Winnipegers will battle for a spot in the quarter-finals in the nation's capital. Atlético Ottawa were drawn into the West pot, meaning that at least until the semi-finals, they'll face teams from the west.

These two sides have met 13 times in history, including 1 match in the 2021 Canadian Championship. Valour has won 6 times, Ottawa 4 times, and there's been 3 draws.

The winner of this match will face the winner of Pacific FC vs. Victoria Highlanders FC.

Pacific FC vs. Victoria Highlanders FC
The Victoria derby! Pacific FC of the CPL will host League1 British Columbia regular season champions Victoria Highlanders, who won't have to travel far. It'll be the first-ever meeting between these two clubs, but not the first time that Pacific faces a L1BC club: In 2023, they knocked out TSS Rovers in the quarter-finals.

The winner of this match will face the winner of Atlético Ottawa vs. Valour FC.

Forge FC vs. York United FC
Another derby: The 905 Derby. For the first time ever, Forge and York will face off in a non-CPL match, having played 21 matches against each other, with 1 of those being in the CPL semi-finals back in 2021. Once again, the visitors won't have to make a long trip for this one.

The winner of this match will go on to face MLS side CF Montréal.

HFX Wanderers FC vs. CS St-Laurent
The Wanderers will host Ligue1 Québec champions CS St-Laurent. For the Halifax side, it'll be the 4th (!) time they face a semi-pro team in the first round, having faced Vaughan Azzurri in 2019, A.S. Blainville in 2021, Guelph United in 2022, and now St-Laurent in 2024. In fact, it will be the 5th time they draw a semi-pro team, as they were drawn with Blainville in the 2020 Canadian Championship, which ended up being cancelled and turned into a 1-game tournament.

The winner of this match will face the winner of Toronto FC vs. Simcoe County Rovers FC.

Toronto FC vs. Simcoe County Rovers FC
The Reds, who are the club with most Canadian Championship titles (8) in the official era (2008–present), will be hosting League1 Ontario champions Simcoe County Rovers at BMO Field. It'll be the first time the semi-pro side faces a professional team.

The winner of this match will face the winner of HFX Wanderers FC vs. CS St-Laurent.
