Patrice Bernier: Woobens Pacius is heading to MLS
BY TRUENORTHFOOT PUBLISHED ON DECEMBER 15, 2023 (MODIFIED ON DEC 15, 2023)

22-year-old Canadian striker Woobens Pacius is heading to MLS, according to Patrice Bernier.

His performances in the CPL have been noticed. Announcement coming soon.

Bernier revealed that he was attracting interest from Europe as well as MLS after the 2022 season ended. While the club has yet to be revealed, you could say that CF Montréal is a fair guess. Woobens played for the Impact academy before moving to Forge. He knows the club, the language & the city well. Of course, this is all just speculation, and we'll likely get some official confirmations as to which club he's heading to in the following days.

Woobens Pacius has played 93 games for the 4-time CPL champions, with his last match being against Atlético Ottawa in the CPL regular season. He's scored 32 goals in all competitions with Forge, making him the club's all-time leading goalscorer. He has 2 titles to his name: CPL champion in 2022 & 2023.

On the Forge side, while it's a tough loss, they still have the CPL all-time leading goalscorer in Terran Campbell, who bagged 10 goals this season. Putting the ball in the back of the net won't be an issue for the reigning CPL champs.

Would Forge get a fee from this?

We don't know. Woobens signed for the Hammers mid-2021, and it was announced at the end of that same year that the club had exercised his option for the 2022 season. Since he also played the 2023 season with no announcement in between, it's presumed that he signed a 1+2 contract back in August of 2021, which would mean he'd be a free agent once 2024 starts. But again, this is just speculation. Forge tends to be pretty silent when it comes to contract details. We'll get more information once the move is made official by Forge and the MLS club.
