2024 CPL end-of-season roster updates

Rosters updated as of December 9, 2024.

With the Canadian Premier League having entered the post-season for almost a month now, all eight clubs have announced their end-of-season roster updates, including departures and returning players.

In this article, we'll recap all updates across the league as they're published.

  • All clubs have until December 31, 2024 to trigger player options for 2025 and beyond.

  • The reigning champions have eleven players secured for the 2025 season: Goalkeeper Marco Carducci; defenders Fraser Aird, Bradley Kamdem and Eryk Kobza; midfielders Sergio Camargo, Diego Gutierrez, and Charlie Trafford; and forwards Chanan Chanda, Nicolas Wähling, Tobias Warschewski and Lowell Wright. Warschewski’s contract was guaranteed after he achieved a performance goal that automatically triggered his 2025 Club Option.

  • Cavalry holds club options on eight players and has until Dec. 31 to trigger those options for 2025: Goalkeeper Joseph Holliday; defenders Michael Harms and Callum Montgomery; midfielders Jesse Daley, Maël Henry and Shamit Shome; and forwards Ali Musse; Tobias Warschewski and Malcolm Shaw.

  • The development contracts for goalkeeper Neven Fewster, midfielders Josh Belbin and James McGlinchey and the CPL-U SPORTS contract for Niko Myroniuk expired following the end of the 2024 league season. Cavalry has retained Myroniuk’s U SPORTS rights for the 2025 season.

  • Cavalry and forward William Akio have mutually parted ways following the end of the season.

  • Contracts for defenders Tom Field and Daan Klomp will expire on Dec. 31, 2024, as will the loan for midfielder Jay Herdman from Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

  • Cavalry FC's 2025 roster as of December 6, 2024:
    Goalkeepers: Marco Carducci

  • Forge has six players under guaranteed contracts for the 2025 season: defender Alexander Achinioti-Jönsson; midfielders Elimane Cissé, Noah Jensen and Khadim Kane; and forwards Nana Ampomah and David Choinière.

  • Forge holds club options on six players and has until December 31 to trigger those options for 2025: goalkeepers Christopher Kalongo and Jassem Koleilat; defender Abdulmalik Owolabi-Belewu; midfielder Orlendis Benítez; and forwards Beni Badibanga and Sebastian Castello. Forge FC also hold a loan option on defender Daniel Parra from Liga MX side CF Monterrey.

  • Matteo Schiavoni’s loan from Major League Soccer side CF Montréal expired following the end of the league season. CPL-U SPORTS contract for forward Amadou Koné have also expired. Forge had retained Amadou Kone’s and Dino Bontis’ U-SPORTS rights for the 2025 season.

  • Contracts for defenders Malcolm Duncan, Garven Metusala and Dominic Samuel, midfielders Kyle Bekker and Alessandro Hojabrpour, and forwards Tristan Borges, Terran Campbell, Jordan Hamilton and Viktor Klonaridis will expire on Dec. 31, 2024. The club is currently in several negotiations regarding both contract extensions and new additions with updates to follow accordingly.

  • Forge FC's 2025 roster as of December 9, 2024:
    Defenders: Alexander Achinioti-Jönsson

  • Nine players have guaranteed contracts for the 2025 season: Goalkeeper Nathan Ingham, defenders Tyr Walker and Jonathan Grant, midfielders Manny Aparicio, Aboubacar Sissoko, Kris Twardek and Noah Verhoeven, forwards Ballou Tabla and Kevin Dos Santos.

  • Atlético Ottawa hold club options on five players and have until Dec. 31 to trigger those options for 2025: Goalkeeper Rayane Yesli, defenders Matteo de Brienne, Amer Didic and Zachary Roy and forward Samuel Salter, while defender Maxim Tissot announced his retirement in October.

  • Contracts for Ollie Bassett, Alberto Zapater, Gabriel Antinoro and Jesús del Amo expire at the end of the year, while development permits for Adam Ross and Gabe Carvalho have expired.

  • Rubén del Campo his departure from the club via his Instagram account.

  • Atlético Ottawa's 2025 roster as of December 6, 2024:

  • York United has signed five players for 2025: Defenders Nyal Higgins and Max Ferrari, midfielders Elijah Adekugbe and Kembo Kibato, and forward Shola Jimoh.

  • The Nine Stripes hold options on five players and have until Dec. 31 to trigger them. Conversations continue with the following: goalkeeper Thomas Vincensini, defenders Juan Córdova and Oswaldo León, and forwards Markiyan Voytsekhovskyy and Dennis Salanovic.

  • Loans for defender Orlando Botello (CF Monterrey); midfielders Tomas Giraldo (Halifax Wanderers FC), Santiago Márquez (Club Necaxa) and Josué Martinez (CF Monterrey); and forward Jorge Guzmán (Atlas Fútbol Club) expired following the end of the league season.

  • Development contracts for defender Finn Raible, midfielders Lukas Pareja, Anthony Umanzor and Joshua Lopez have also expired, as has the CPL-U SPORTS contract for Trivine Esprit. The club has retained Esprit’s U SPORTS rights for the 2025 season.

  • Conversations continue with a number of players, whose contracts expire on Dec. 31, 2024: goalkeeper Eleias Himaras; defenders Noah Abatneh, Kadin Martin-Pereux and Frank Sturing; midfielders Clément Bayiha (whose loan to Halifax Wanderers FC ended following the league season) and Matthew Baldisimo; and forwards Theo Afework, Mo Babouli and Brian Wright.

  • York United FC's 2025 roster as of December 6, 2024:
    Goalkeepers: N/A
    Defenders: Nyal Higgins, Max Ferrari

  • Pacific FC has six players under contract for the 2025 season: Goalkeepers Emil Gazdov and Sean Melvin, defenders Christian Greco-Taylor and Aly Ndom, midfielder Sean Young and forward Dario Zanatta.

  • Pacific holds club options on three player contracts and has until December 31, 2024 to execute those options. Those three players include: Defender Juan Quintana and midfielders Georges Mukumbilwa and Steffen Yeates.

  • The club declined options on defender Kevin Ceceri, midfielders Zakaria Bahous, Pierre Lamothe and Andrei Tircoveanu, and forward Adonijah Reid and Devin O'Hea. These players will be leaving the club.

  • Five players have their contracts expire at the end of the year: Defenders Paul Amedume and Kunle Dada-Luke, midfielder Cedric Toussaint and forwards Ayman Sellouf (who was on loan at Vancouver FC in the 2nd half of the 2024 season) and Josh Heard.

  • Development contracts for defender Will Edgson and midfielders Sami Keshavarz and Mattias Vales expired at the end of the 2024 league season.

  • Pacific announced on Dec. 4 that defender Thomas Meilleur-Giguère has departed the club. Forward Reon Moore and midfielder Marco Domínguez will also not be returning for the 2025 season after each player agreed to the mutual termination of his respective contract.

  • Pacific FC's 2025 roster as of December 6, 2024:
    Goalkeepers: Emil Gazdov, Sean Melvin
    Defenders: Christian Greco-Taylor, Aly Ndom
    Midfielders: Sean Young

  • The Halifax Wanderers have nine players under guaranteed contracts for the 2025 season: defenders Jefferson Alphonse, Nassim Mekideche and Kareem Sow; midfielders Jérémy Gagnon-Laparé, Giorgio Probo, Sean Rea, Vitor Dias and Camilo Vasconcelos; and forward Tavio Ciccarelli. A one-year contract option for Jefferson Alphonse was automatically triggered after an appearance clause in his contract was met.

  • The Wanderers have club options on 11 players and have until Dec. 31 to trigger those options for 2025: goalkeeper Aiden Rushenas; defenders Julian Dunn, Cale Loughrey, Riley Ferrazzo and Wesley Timoteo; midfielders Aidan Daniels, Tomas Giraldo and Andre Rampersad; and forwards Tiago Coimbra, Massimo Ferrin and Ryan Telfer.

  • Contracts for defenders Dan Nimick, Zachary Fernandez and midfielder Lorenzo Callegari expire at the end of 2024. Clement Bayiha’s loan from York United expired at the end of the CPL season.

  • Goalkeeper Yann Fillion announced his departure from the club via an Instagram post.

  • Development permits for defenders David Mavakala and Jamai Royer have expired. Royer will be joining Akron University in the new year.

  • HFX Wanderers FC's 2025 roster as of December 6, 2024:
    Defenders: Jefferson Alphonse, Nassim Mekideche, Kareem Sow
    Midfielders: Jérémy Gagnon-Laparé, Giorgio Probo, Sean Rea, Vitor Dias, Camilo Vasconcelos

  • Vancouver has nine players under contract for the 2025 season: Defenders Elage Bah, Paris Gee and David Norman Jr., midfielders Vasco Fry and Grady McDonell, and forwards Ben Fisk, Mikaël Cantave, TJ Tahid and José Navarro.

  • Additionally, Alejandro Díaz will remain with Vancouver on loan from Norway’s Sogndal Fotball until June 30, 2025.

  • Vancouver FC holds club options for eleven players and has until December 31 to execute those contracts for the 2025 season. Those eleven players include: Goalkeepers Niko Giantsopoulos and Callum Irving, defenders Matteo Campagna, Kadin Chung, Anthony White, James Cameron and Tyler Crawford, and midfielders Gabriel Bitar, Renan Garcia, Olivier Rommens and Zach Verhoven.

  • Six players have their contract expire at the end of the year: Defender Allan Enyou's loan from Spain's C.D. Leganés B, midfielder Joey Buchanan's development contract, and forward Sebastian Dzikowski's CPL-U SPORTS contract. Defender Rocco Romeo and forwards Austin Ricci and Moses Dyer, whose loan to Pacific FC has also expired, will expire on Dec. 31, 2024.

  • Vancouver FC's 2025 roster as of December 6, 2024:
    Defenders: Elage Bah, Paris Gee, David Norman Jr.
    Midfielders: Ben Fisk, Mikaël Cantave, Vasco Fry, Grady McDonnell, TJ Tahid

  • Five players have guaranteed contracts through the 2025 season: midfielders Diogo Ressurreição, Safwane Mlah and Zachary Sukunda; and forwards Shaan Hundal and Kian Williams. Ressurreição and Mlah’s contracts were guaranteed after each player achieved performance goals that automatically triggered their 2025 Club Options.

  • Valour has until Dec. 31 to execute club options for the following players for the 2025 season: goalkeeper Jonathan Viscosi, defenders Roberto Alarcón and Themi Antonoglou; midfielders Dante Campbell, Jordan Faria and Raphael Ohin; and forwards Abdul Binate, Loic Kwemi and Jordan Swibel.

  • The 2025 club options for Joe Hanson, Charalampos Chantzopoulos and Jordan Haynes will not be executed. Midfielder Noah Verhoeven’s loan from Atlético Ottawa and defender Gianfranco Facchineri’s CPL-U SPORTS contract have expired. Valour has retained Facchineri’s U-SPORTS rights for the 2025 season.

  • Contracts for goalkeeper Darlington Murasiranwa, defender Tass Mourdoukoutas and midfielders Marcello Polisi and Juan Pablo Sanchez will expire on Dec. 31, 2024.

  • Valour FC's 2025 roster as of December 6, 2024:
    Midfielders: Diogo Ressurreição, Safwane Mlah, Zachary Sukunda
    Forwards: Shaan Hundal, Kian Williams
