VAN Vancouver 2 FT 1 INT Inter Toronto

Vancouver FC showed their fans on Sunday that they are determined to make improvements in their team play, defeating York United 2–1 at Willoughby Community Park in Canadian Premier League action. The Eagles had been winless in their last six CPL matches. It capped off a historic week, as they advanced to the Canadian Championship final after beating Atlético Ottawa 3–2 on aggregate. On October 1, 2025, at BC Place, Vancouver FC will play the biggest game in their history against the Vancouver Whitecaps for the Canadian Championship.

Pathé Ndiaye opened the scoring in the 33rd minute with his fourth goal of the season. York equalized quickly through Massimo Ferrin in the 40th minute, raising the intensity of a game that had been cautious up to that point.

Vancouver regained the lead just before halftime when Paris Gee struck in the 45th minute. In the second half, the Eagles focused on defending and held York United to limited chances, securing their first home league win in 13 months with the 2–1 result.

Improved defensive play is keeping Vancouver competitive in most matches. If they can continue to defend well and make the most of counterattacks, they’ll be a much tougher side through the rest of 2025 and into the 2026 season.

Plenty of Vancouver supporters are expected to make the trip to BC Place to cheer on their team as they represent the CPL in the Canadian Championship final. A strong showing there could help Vancouver FC attract new fans going forward.
