Cavalry and Atlético Ottawa will face off in a Saturday afternoon clash between two sides on the business end of the CPL table. Despite rain being in the forecast earlier in the week, the latest estimates for Foothills County suggest temperatures in the mid-to-high twenties at kickoff and persisting throughout the contest.
The two sides have met twice so far in 2026, with Cavalry taking a 3-1 victory in April and a dominant 3-0 victory in July. Despite Cavalry's recent success, Atlético Ottawa have had the historical advantage with 12 wins compared to Cavalry's five, including five wins at ATCO Field, a CPL best for the visitors.
The hosts come into the match after a 2-1 win over Forge one week ago. Despite heavily out-possessing the Hammers throughout the match, Cavalry waited until the final quarter-hour of the match to take the lead thanks to a goal from Owen Antoniuk. The Cavs have fallen back to second in the table by virtue of Forge winning their midweek contest against Supra, and now sit a single point behind on level games played.
Atlético Ottawa were 4-0 victors over Vancouver FC in their midweek contest, a result that propelled them past the Eagles into third place. Notably, their four-goal outburst now sees them with 31 goals for the year, just two behind Cavalry's highly touted offence. Atlético's first two goals against Vancouver came from midfielder Jean-Aniel Assi en route to his only 90-minute effort thus far in 2026. Scoring by committee has characterized Ottawa's play in 2026, as they lead the league with 15 unique goalscorers.
Availability
Goteh Ntignee and Michael Baldisimo have been absent from Cavalry's lineup for multiple weeks, with no indication of a return timeline for either player. Jay Herdman has also left Cavalry after nearly two years for an opportunity in Asia. Owen Antoniuk has been retained by the club for the remainder of the 2026 season after his breakout play over the last month.
Atlético are faced with numerous injuries. Sergei Kozlovskiy, Jonantan Villal, and Tyr Duhaney-Walker have all been absent for multiple matches and are not likely to suit up on Saturday. New arrival and former Cav Diego Gutierrez is also not expected to be available against his former squad.
