As they prepare for their first FIFA World Cup participation in over 50 years, the Haitian men's national team could find themselves in La Belle Province.

According to local reporter Caleb Jephte Pierre, Les Grenadiers are in discussions to play one or two friendly matches at Stade Saputo in March and June.

Earlier this year, the women's national team faced Canada in a friendly at the same venue, with Haitian fans packing the stadium and turning an away game into a home atmosphere.

The Canadian men's national team is confirmed to host a friendly at Stade Saputo in June 2026 as a World Cup send-off. The opponent has yet to be confirmed.

The Haitian national team qualified for their second-ever World Cup a few weeks ago, marking their first appearance in the tournament since the 1974 edition.

Should the report become reality, it will be a special night — or nights — for the over 45,000 Haitians living in Montréal. Les Grenadiers have been unable to host matches at home for over four years due to the ongoing security and political crisis in the country, playing all of their 'home' qualifying fixtures at neutral sites.

Canadian Premier League alumni Garven Metusala and Woobens Pacius, both of whom played for Forge, were in the squad that secured qualification.
