The Northern Super League continues its second-ever season, with the Montreal Roses hosting Vancouver Rise at Stade Boréale.

Here's everything you need to know heading into tomorrow's match.

How the Montreal Roses come into the match

It has been an excellent start to the 2026 Northern Super League season for last year’s semi-finalists, as Montreal cruised past Calgary Wild with a 2-0 win.

Debutant Elyse Bennett was the standout, scoring twice in her 78 minutes of action and immediately making her mark.

Looking like one of the most complete sides in the league, Montréal have quickly established themselves as one of the favourites to reach the final, and it's not difficult to see why.

How the Vancouver Rise come into the match

The same positive result cannot be said for Vancouver, who narrowly fell 3-2 to AFC Toronto on opening night.

It was not all negative, however. New signing Camila Reyes announced herself in style with a stunning goal on debut, while former Montréal player Latifah Abdu picked up right where she left off from 2025.

After lifting the Diana B. Matheson Trophy last November, Vancouver remain the team to beat, and one narrow defeat does little to change the broader outlook for their season.

Head-to-head

The last game between these two sides came in early October of last year, as an early Jessica De Filippo goal was the difference as the Rise took a 1-0 win at the Stade Boréale.

Overall, the head-to-head record is even, with both sides recording 2 wins and a draw.

Montréal's biggest win came in their inaugural meeting, as the Roses cruised to a 3-1 win at Swangard Stadium, as Hailey Whitaker, Allie Hess, and Latifah Abdu all scored in the first half for the Roses before Quinn scored from the spot in the second half.

Vancouver's biggest win came in late August, as the Rise defeated the Roses by 2 goals to 1 at Swangard Stadium, with Holly Ward and Lisa Pechersky scoring after Tanya Boychuk's opening goal.

Players to Watch

A player who was influential in Vancouver's title win last season, Lisa Pechersky made an offseason move to Montréal upon the expiration of her contract, as the 27-year-old forward looks to bring her championship experience into a stacked Roses squad. With 4 goals and 4 assists recorded last season, Pechersky will look to haunt her former side as Montréal will look to her for some attacking danger.

After shining in Montréal with 6 goals and 1 assist in 16 games, it was the first-ever shock move in the Northern Super League's short history, as Latifah Abdu completed a midseason switch to the Vancouver Rise, scoring 5 goals in 10 matches as the Rise took home the title in Toronto. She's already started the season with a goal, as she not only looks to win another title with Vancouver, but also aims to win the Golden Boot after finishing third in last year's rankings, tied with Esther Okoronkwo.

Player Availability

For Montréal Roses, Julia Leas is the only player listed as unavailable for Robert Rositoiu’s side. Overall, Rositoiu has a strong squad to choose from as he looks to shape his starting eleven.

For Vancouver Rise, Anja Heiner-Møller faces a more challenging situation. Ariel Young and Shannon Woeller remain out with ACL injuries carried over from last season, while Mia Pante and Kennedy Faulknor are both doubts. Audrey François is also listed as unavailable, though not due to injury.
