Dan Nimick is close to joining Forge FC.
As first reported by Josh Healey of Wanderers Notebook, the Hammers are in discussions to sign the 24-year-old defender, who recently announced his departure from the Halifax Wanderers after two seasons with the club.
He played a crucial role in helping the Wanderers secure their best-ever finish in a Canadian Premier League season, finishing 3rd and narrowly missing out on 2nd place.
During his time out east, he made 54 appearances and demonstrated remarkable offensive contributions for a center-back, scoring 15 goals and providing 6 assists.
Josh Healey also reports that Nimick was set for a move to the USL Championship, but for unspecified reasons, the deal fell through.
Nimick would be a great and necessary addition to Forge's backline, with defenders Garven Metusala and Malcolm Duncan leaving.
Forge has already made a splash in the off-season window, signing reigning Players' Player of the Year Brian Wright to a multi-year contract.
