York United has announced the signing of Canadian defender Cameron DaSilva ahead of the 2025 season.
The centre-back joins on a one-year contract with club options for 2026 and 2027.
The 22-year-old spent the past two seasons with Simcoe County Rovers in League1 Ontario, winning the Men's Premier Division title in his first year.
In 2024, he was named the club's Men's Player of the Year.
"It's a privilege and a blessing to sign with York," said the new signing to the club. "The club has a great vision and being able to represent my home city is great. I had the opportunity to to train with the team during the final couple of months last season and I just loved the passion everyone had. The environment was fantastic and I can't wait for pre-season to start and for the group to start collaborating. It's an exciting squad and I know we can build on an excellent season and deliver something special."
DaSilva joins a great list of League1 Ontario alumni to join the Canadian Premier League.
"I feel this is a great step in the right direction," said the defender to the club. "It was a fantastic experience being mentored by the likes of Julian de Guzman, Doneil Henry and Peter Raco at Simcoe [County Rovers] and it's really a reflection of where the sport is headed in Canada. Young players now have a trajectory here and it's exciting to be part of a generation getting these types of opportunities."
The Nine Stripes have already made four signings in the off-season, with defender Riley Ferrazzo, midfielder Gabriel Bitar, and forward Adonijah Reid all making the move to North York this 2025.
