York United has signed Steffen Yeates from Pacific for an undisclosed fee, both clubs announced on Monday.
The 25-year-old put pen to paper for a two-year contract with a club option for an additional season.
Throughout the past two seasons, the Canadian midfielder made 64 appearances for the Tridents, scoring twice and recording 5 assists.
Yeates returns to the city of Toronto, having previously played for TFC's 2nd team in MLS Next Pro, where he played in 48 games.
"Honestly, there's there's no city like Toronto," said Yeates to the club. "So being back home and playing in a home environment is always a benefit and always brings that extra motivation. It feels amazing to represent the home team, especially when you can feel the direction of the club and the ambition they have to further themselves after last year and having made history in so many areas. Playing against York last season, it just felt different. The energy, the intensity. So, it seems like the perfect time to get here. There's lot to build on so let's get to work."
Internationally, Yeates plays for the Trinidad and Tobago national team, making his debut in a World Cup qualifier last year as well as appearing in two Concacaf Nations League matches.
