Jesper Sørensen is extending his stay in Vancouver.

The Danish head coach has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the Whitecaps through the 2027-28 season.

In his first year at the helm, he led the 'Caps to three finals — MLS Cup, the Concacaf Champions Cup final, and the Canadian Championship final, which he won.

"Jesper has done an outstanding job developing our team and establishing a clear, modern playing identity," said Alex Schuster, club CEO and sporting director, in a statement. "His work with our players, both individually and collectively, has been instrumental in our progress. Continuity and alignment are essential to sustained success in MLS, and Jesper embodies both. He is the right person to lead this group forward and continue building a competitive, resilient team that reflects who we are as a club."

In 2025, Sørensen's side scored a club-record 104 goals, beating the previous mark of 91 from the 1988 season, with 24 different goal scorers.

The Danish head coach's record at the club stands at 26 wins, 18 draws, and 10 losses.

"I am incredibly grateful for the support of our players, technical and support staff, front office, and of course our fans over the course of my first season at the club," said Sørensen. "Last year, we shared many historic firsts and established a new level of expectation and belief. We will continue building, and I am committed to bringing more success to Vancouver and our passionate supporters. I look forward to seeing everyone at BC Place starting this Saturday."

Vancouver's season got underway on Wednesday with a goalless draw against Cartaginés in Costa Rica. The club begin their MLS campaign on Saturday at home against Real Salt Lake before hosting Cartaginés once more for leg two in downtown Vancouver.
