The final match of the 2026 Canadian Championship preliminary stage takes place tomorrow afternoon, as Vancouver FC faces Langley United in an intriguing matchup filled with storylines.

Here’s everything you need to know heading into tomorrow’s match.

How Vancouver FC enter this match

After a difficult opening three matches that saw them lose 1-0 in each game, Vancouver FC has started to show signs of improvement, earning a 1-1 draw against Atlético Ottawa to snap that three-match losing streak.

Last week, they turned one point into three, defeating rivals Pacific 3-1 to secure their first win of 2026, powered by a Terran Campbell brace after Mohamed Amissi opened the scoring.

As most fans know, the Eagles enjoyed an unprecedented Canadian Championship run in 2025, becoming the first-ever Canadian Premier League side to reach the final in a full edition.

So, can Martin Nash’s side do it again? The path ahead is difficult and could include matchups against two MLS sides, but anything is possible in cup football.

How Langley United enter this match

Langley United have enjoyed a stunning start to the 2026 British Columbia Premier League season, sitting top of the standings with a perfect 5-0-0 record while yet to concede a single goal.

Their most recent match saw them defeat the Vancouver Whitecaps Academy 2-0, with goals coming from Brody Thomas and Ebiladei Igali.

This could prove to be a difficult test for Vancouver FC, as Langley United will look to mark its Canadian Championship debut with a major statement.

Head-to-head

This will be the first time these two sides will face each other on a competitive basis.

Club connections

This matchup is especially intriguing for one major reason, as these two sides share a strategic partnership.

Senior players from Vancouver FC will occasionally feature for Langley United for a variety of reasons, most commonly related to fitness.

New signing Lys Mousset started and scored for Langley United in their 5-0 win over Kamloops United earlier this season, although the former Premier League striker was forced off shortly after with a hamstring injury.

After making his Vancouver FC debut against Pacific last week, Mousset could feature for the Eagles against their partner club.

Langley head coach Azad Palani also served as an assistant at Vancouver before departing from that role earlier this year. He still holds a role connected to the CPL side’s youth setup.

Projected XIs

Vancouver FC (4-3-3): Callum Irving (c); Paris Gee, Tom Field, Matteo Campagna, Morey Doner; Marcello Polisi, Emrick Fotsing, Abdoulaye Ouattara; Kian Proctor, Mohamed Amissi, Thierno Bah
