Week 15 delivered another exciting stretch of Northern Super League action, featuring two meetings between AFC Toronto and Calgary Wild FC, along with another entertaining chapter in the growing rivalry between the Montréal Roses and Vancouver Rise FC.
July 28, 2026 - AFC Toronto vs. Calgary Wild FC (York Lions Stadium)
Calgary Wild FC travelled to York Lions Stadium for the first of two meetings with AFC Toronto. With the Wild rooted to the bottom of the standings and AFC Toronto sitting third, just behind the Montréal Roses, many expected a comfortable home victory.
While AFC Toronto controlled the match, dominating possession, total shots, and shots on target, Calgary refused to go quietly. The Wild produced an impressive 38 clearances and defended resolutely throughout the contest. AFC Toronto ultimately claimed all three points, but Calgary showed plenty of determination despite the result.
July 29, 2026 - Vancouver Rise FC vs. Montréal Roses FC (Swangard Stadium)
Any meeting between Vancouver Rise and the Montréal Roses is guaranteed to bring intensity. Entering their fourth meeting, the Roses held a narrow 2-1 edge in the season series, while Vancouver looked to even the score.
The action started immediately. María López opened the scoring just three minutes after kickoff before Lisa Pechersky doubled the lead in the 14th minute. Anaïs Oularbi added another three minutes later, only for Elyse Bennett to pull one back for Montréal in the 39th minute.
The second half remained just as entertaining. The Roses fought back with goals from Mimi Alidou and Anne Seto, the first NSL goals for both players. Statistically, the match was remarkably even, with nearly identical possession and shot totals, highlighting just how closely contested the encounter was.
The next chapter of this rivalry will be written on September 19, and based on previous meetings, another thrilling contest can be expected.
August 1, 2026 - Calgary Wild FC vs. AFC Toronto (McMahon Stadium)
The second meeting between Calgary and AFC Toronto was a completely different story.
After pushing Toronto in the first matchup, the Wild were overwhelmed from the opening whistle. The breakthrough came through excellent combination play between Lauren Rowe and Kaylee Hunter, with Rowe driving down the flank before picking out Hunter, who finished clinically.
Things quickly went from bad to worse for Calgary. Grace Stordy was sent off in the 33rd minute, reducing the Wild to ten players. Hunter converted the resulting penalty despite Talbert getting close, and AFC Toronto never looked back.
Hunter finished with two goals, while Lauren Rowe, Colby Barnett, Sarah Rollins, and Kaila Novak also found the scoresheet in a ruthless 6-0 victory.
August 3, 2026 - Halifax Tides FC vs. Ottawa Rapid FC (Wanderers Grounds)
It was a strange evening in Halifax on Monday, with the match counting towards both the Northern Super League and the inaugural W Canadian Championship.
Ottawa Rapid continued to show why they sit atop the NSL standings, but they were made to work hard for a point against Halifax.
The Tides looked to be in control after Jordyn Rhodes struck twice in the second half, finding the net in the 49th and 62nd minutes. Ottawa responded through Florence Belzile and Jazmine Wilkinson to erase the two-goal deficit.
After 90 minutes, the match ended 2-2, with each side earning a point in the Northern Super League. However, because the game also served as a W Canadian Championship quarter-final, extra time was required to produce a winner. Nicola Golen eventually found the decisive goal deep into extra time, sending Ottawa through with a dramatic victory after an entertaining contest.

Calgary Wild FC (6th)
Calgary's difficult inaugural season continues, with 12 losses and two draws. Despite the results, they showed real determination across both matches against AFC Toronto. Their next challenge comes against Vancouver Rise, where they'll need to build on those positive moments if they're to finally get their first victory.
Vancouver Rise FC (5th)
The defending champions continue to show they remain one of the league's strongest sides, pushing the Montréal Roses all the way in another classic encounter. A meeting with Calgary Wild is next, and while Vancouver will enter as favourites, they'll know Calgary have become increasingly difficult to break down.
Halifax Tides FC (4th)
Halifax dropped two points to Ottawa after leading 2-0 despite showing tremendous resilience. The Tides now prepare to face the Montréal Roses, carrying confidence from a strong performance against the league leaders despite the disappointing result.
AFC Toronto (3rd)
AFC Toronto responded emphatically with their dominant victory over Calgary, proving they had quickly put previous frustrations behind them. A showdown with league-leading Ottawa now awaits, and with just three points separating the two clubs, it represents a huge opportunity to tighten the race at the top.
Montréal Roses FC (2nd)
The Roses continue to demonstrate why they belong among the league's elite. Chloe Minas returns from suspension, giving Montréal another important piece as they look to continue applying pressure near the top of the standings.
Ottawa Rapid FC (1st)
Ottawa remain the benchmark in the Northern Super League. Even with a comfortable lead atop the standings, the Rapids continue to find ways to win, as demonstrated by their dramatic cup comeback victory over Halifax, even though only one point went towards their NSL record. Every opponent knows they'll need to be at their very best to knock Ottawa off their perch.
