VAN Vancouver Thu. 2:00 AM MON Montréal

Time for one of the more interesting matchups in this edition of the Canadian Championship, as Vancouver FC faces off against CF Montréal, as the tournament has now reached the quarterfinal stage.

Here’s everything you need to know heading into tomorrow’s match.

How Vancouver FC enters this match

The Eagles will have an edge over Montréal, as Martin Nash's side has more minutes in the tank from the past month, as they continued their Canadian Premier League season.

Currently sitting in fifth place, their most recent outing saw Mohamed Amissi score a hat trick in a 4-0 win over Inter Toronto, as Nicolás Mezquida scored the opener in that game.

After securing a 2-0 win in the preliminary round over Langley United, Vancouver faces one of the hardest tasks tomorrow, as they host MLS opposition for the first time in their short history.

How CF Montréal enters this match

After a month away from the pitch, the Impact are back as they look to start the second half of 2026 on the right track.

Currently sitting in eleventh place in the Eastern Conference, their most recent outing was nothing short of chaotic, as they drew 4-4 with DC United at Audi Field, as goals from Louie Munteanu, Jared Stroud, Tai Baribo, and Lucas Bartlett were cancelled out by a hat trick from Prince Owusu and a late equalizer from Hennadiy Synchuk.

After securing a 5-0 win over the Calgary Blizzard in the first round, Montréal will certainly face a more difficult task, as they also have the disadvantage of fitness.

Head-to-Head

Unsurprisingly, this is the first meeting between these two sides.

This is an interesting game for Montréal, as in the past two editions of the Canadian Championship they have been eliminated by CPL side Forge FC, who are now on the opposite side of the bracket. Could Vancouver FC continue the trend of Montréal being eliminated by CPL opposition?

For the Eagles, this will be their second match against MLS opposition, as they fell to the Vancouver Whitecaps by a 4-2 scoreline in last year's final.

Players to Watch

A player that Montréal will have to look out for is Mohamed Amissi, as the new signing from Burundi has been electric in his debut campaign for the Eagles, scoring six goals in ten league games, which includes a first-half hat trick against Inter Toronto recently. A left-footed attacker, the 26-year-old brings dynamite to the Eagles' attack alongside Thierno Bah and either Terran Campbell or Lys Mousset. Amissi is in form, and Montréal will have to defend carefully against the livewire of Vancouver FC.

Wikelman 'Wiki' Carmona was traded by Red Bull New York to CF Montréal in exchange for Canadian fullback Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty during the offseason, as Carmona has flourished for Montréal in 2026, recording five goals and three assists in 13 games, which include a goal and an assist in Montréal's only Canadian Championship game of the year. Also a left-footed winger, the Venezuelan has created a good partnership with Prince Owusu, as those two have helped Montréal remain in playoff contention. Can Carmona produce another good performance?
