The Vancouver Whitecaps announced this Tuesday that Ryan Gauld underwent a successful arthroscopic debridement procedure on his left knee this afternoon in Innsbruck, Austria.
The captain initially suffered a left knee capsule injury and bone contusion in March 2025, which kept him sidelined until October.
Club sporting director Axel Schuster says they anticipate the player will make a full recovery by April.
"We are pleased to hear that Ryan’s procedure was a success. Following recent consultation with a specialist, everyone agreed that this was the best course of action at this time. We will continue to closely monitor his ongoing recovery and anticipate he will make a full recovery by April."

On his return to the field, Gauld scored in the Whitecaps’ 4-2 victory over Vancouver FC in the Canadian Championship final, marking his comeback in style.
He then appeared in the club’s remaining eight matches of the season, coming off the bench in each one.
Since joining the Whitecaps in July 2021, Gauld has scored 46 goals and registered 53 assists in 150 appearances across all competitions. He's the club’s MLS-era leader in goal contributions, with 99.
