Inter Toronto earned a big win, defeating Cavalry 3-1 on Saturday.
The home side wasted no time getting on the scoresheet, with Sebastián Gonzáles netting his first since May. The Peruvian pulled the switch back on Daan Klomp to put his side up in the sixth minute.
Shortly after, the lead would be doubled after a dreadful defensive breakdown for Cavalry. Max Ferrari powered down the left wing uncontested and played the ball into the box. After Cavalry failed to clear, Steffen Yeates finished on the play for Inter's second inside the opening 12 minutes.
Despite being held scoreless in the first half, the Cavs managed 10 shots, but none generated serious scoring opportunities.
Cavalry would make a quartet of substitutions in the first 20 minutes of the second half, hoping to get back into the match and salvage a point.
Unfortunately for the visitors, Inter would add a third tally in the 69th minute. After Nathan Ingham strung together back-to-back saves when Cavalry were outnumbered in their own box, Yeates pounced on the second rebound and sent the ball into a wide-open goal.
Antonio Campos would be denied his maiden clean sheet in the 83rd minute when Amer Didic scored his third of the season. Cavalry's set-piece dominance in 2026 continued as Didic rose to meet Musse's corner.
With newfound life, Cavalry pressed heavily in the final 10 minutes, but ultimately couldn't come back from their game-long deficit.
With the win, Inter improved to sixth place on 27 points. With one game in hand on Vancouver in fourth, they have firmly placed themselves back into the playoff conversation. Encouragingly, Inter's offence has exploded for 18 goals in the last seven matches, and the club now has the second-most goals for in CPL play this season. Inter will look to keep up the momentum on Wednesday when they host Supra.
For Cavalry, this marks the first time they have suffered back-to-back losses since August 2025. Moreover, the inability to secure any points in either match this week keeps the Shield race alive and well. Cavalry's buffer at the top has shrunk to five points, and second-placed Forge have one fewer match played. Cavalry will have ample time to dissect the challenges they faced this week, as they do not return to action until Thanksgiving, when they will take on the Wanderers in Halifax.
