FC Supra and Atlético Ottawa meet again, this time in the Canadian Championship for the first time.
It is their third all-time meeting, following Supra's inaugural home match and a remarkable 5-3 contest that saw Ottawa overturn a 3-1 deficit within a single half.
Despite Ottawa's 2-0-0 record against the Quebec newcomers, both matches have been tightly contested affairs where you would have missed something if you blinked.
This is the first of two legs to decide who advances to the semi-finals, with the second match set to be played in the nation's capital on August 11, over a month away.
How FC Supra come into the match
The Laval-based side was defeated by Forge at home over the weekend in league action.
The Hammers took a late lead in the first half through a Dan Nimick penalty, while Loic Kwemi tied things up in the second half with a strong first-post finish.
Just minutes later, miscommunication between goalkeeper Joakim Milli and Keesan Ferdinand saw Maxime Filion head the ball into the net, restoring Forge's lead and grabbing the eventual match-winner.
Supra sit 7th in the Canadian Premier League table now, four points off the last playoff spot, albeit with three games in hand over 4th-placed Halifax.
Their inaugural season has been mixed so far, with the performances often up to the league's standards, but results not following.
They got to this round after a 3-1 win over Ontario semi-pro side Woodbridge Strikers.
How Atlético Ottawa come into the match
It has been a mixed run of results for Ottawa, who come into this one off the back of a disappointing 3-0 home defeat, their first loss in the capital since 2024.
Before that, they had comfortably beaten Halifax 3-1 in Nova Scotia and had also featured in a remarkable 5-3 comeback win over Supra.
They currently sit third in the league standings, nine points off second-placed Cavalry, who also have a game in hand over Ottawa.
In the Canadian Championship, Ottawa famously eliminated Toronto FC in the preliminary round through a Ballou Tabla hat-trick, setting up this two-legged quarter-final clash with Supra.
Availability
On Supra's side, David Choinière missed the last game due to unknown reasons, and his status remains to be seen for Wednesday's match.
