The Impact are off the mark.
CF Montréal defeated the New York Red Bulls 3-0 on Sunday, earning their first three points of the season after two difficult opening results.
The visitors lined up in a defensive 5-4-1, with Thomas Gillier in goal, a back five of Dagur Thórhallsson, Tomás Avilés, Efraín Morales, Brayan Vera, and Luca Petrasso, a midfield four of Ivan Jaime, Victor Loturi, Matthew Longstaff, and Wiki Carmona, and Prince Owusu leading the line.
The Bleu-blanc-noir made a bright start, with Ivan Jaime driving down the wing and winning a penalty just three minutes in.
Prince Owusu stepped up and slotted his effort past Ethan Horvath, opening his account for the season and getting Montréal off the mark in the process.

The Red Bulls quickly regained their composure and took hold of the ball, creating chances but unable to find a way past Thomas Gillier.
The hosts were limited to an xG of 0.85, managing four shots on target without ever truly testing the Montréal goalkeeper.
Just as the first half was drawing to a close, Wiki Carmona curled a low free kick through the wall and past Horvath to double Montréal's lead heading into the break.

The second half followed a similar pattern to the first, with the Red Bulls dominating possession but unable to trouble their opponents.
In the 68th minute, Montréal put the game to bed as Wiki Carmona pounced on a defensive mistake to complete his brace against his former side.
