Cavalry has begun its pre-season training camp, formally announcing friendlies against three opponents including two Major League Soccer sides.
The reigning Canadian Premier League champions will first clash with Los Angeles FC – MLS Cup winners in 2022 – on Monday.
The Black and Gold are filled with international stars such as goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and striker Olivier Giroud.
Four days later, the Cavs will face the Columbus Crew, where former Cavalry player Mo Farsi is currently playing. The Ohio-based side is coached by ex CF Montréal manager Wilfried Nancy, under whose tenure the Crew won MLS Cup in 2023 and Leagues Cup in 2024.
Finally, Cavalry will take on a less challenging opponent, facing the San Diego State University soccer team on January 28.
The CPL champions will return to Calgary the following day before heading to Victoria on February 4 for Leg 1 of the Concacaf Champions Cup against Pumas, set to take place on February 6 at Starlight Stadium.
Cavalry recently announced the signing of Jay Herdman, who was previously signed as a loan player from Whitecaps FC 2.
While the CPL's Defender of the Year winner Daan Klomp has yet to officially depart the club, he has been heavily linked with Australian A-League contenders Adelaide United, and it seems that his time with the Cavs has come to an end.
