As the quarterfinal stage of the Canadian Championship unwinds, Cavalry hosts the Vancouver Whitecaps at ATCO Field on Monday night.

Here’s everything you need to know heading into the match.

How both sides enter this match

Despite the away side having more minutes under their belt over the past month, the hosts showed their class on Wednesday.

After a first-half where an Adam Pearlman own goal was cancelled out by a Daan Klomp equalizer, goals from Thomas Müller, Brian White, and Rayan Elloumi gave the Vancouver Whitecaps a 4-1 win at Swangard Stadium, giving them a huge advantage heading into the second leg.

Cavalry weren't bad in the first half, but after the Whitecaps got their first 45 minutes since May, they were able to prove why they are one of the best teams in the MLS, while also showing why they have won the last four editions of the Canadian Championship.

Head-to-Head

As they gear up for a seventh all-time meeting, the head-to-head record is all even, as Cavalry and Vancouver have both recorded two wins, while the other two games have ended in a draw, with one ending in a penalty shootout win for the Whitecaps.

Surprisingly, Cavalry have never won against Vancouver at ATCO Field, with the hosts holding a 0-2-1 record at home.

That one loss came in the most recent meeting between these two sides in Calgary, as the Whitecaps grabbed a 2-1 win over the hosts following a brace from Levonte Johnson. Malcolm Shaw did grab a goal back late into the game.

Players to Watch

With a 3-goal mountain to climb, Cavalry will need Saint Lucian attacker Caniggia Elva to step up. As the status of star player Tobias Warschewski remains in the air, Tommy Wheeldon Jr. will likely have to start Elva up top once again. Before the first leg on Wednesday, the 29-year-old attacker came into the game in good form, recording two goals and one assist in his previous two games. Despite having a quiet performance in the first leg. Elva remains a threat to the Cavs, and if his teammates can deliver good service to him, he won't be so quiet.

After a much-needed first goal of the season on Wednesday, Canadian-Tunisian striker Rayan Elloumi will be looking to build off that momentum to create some confidence and have a good second half of the 2026 season. After not receiving a single minute for Tunisia at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the 18-year-old striker has something to prove as he returns to the Whitecaps. As he's projected to start tomorrow, can Elloumi prove to Jesper Sørensen that he is a reliable backup striker to Brian White with a good performance?
