The third edition of the 2026 Baldisimo Bowl arrives on Sunday afternoon, as Cavalry and Pacific clash once again, this time at ATCO Field for the first meeting between the sides in Calgary this season.
Cavalry currently hold the edge in the season series, defeating Pacific 2-1 during the opening week of the CPL season before adding a 3-1 victory in the Canadian Championship preliminary round earlier this month.
The hosts enter the match still unbeaten in 2026, with a 4-2-0 league record that has them sitting second in the table behind Forge.
Defensively, Nathan Ingham has helped anchor one of the league’s strongest back lines, with Cavalry conceding just three goals all season and recording three clean sheets in their last four matches. Captain Sergio Camargo has also quietly put together an impressive run of form, consistently influencing matches despite rarely lasting the full ninety minutes.
For Pacific, the major storyline remains the club’s managerial change.
Winless in 17 matches, the Tridents announced the departure of head coach James Merriman earlier this week, with assistant coach Yiannis Tsalatsidis stepping into the role on an interim basis beginning this weekend.
Pacific have conceded a league-worst 12 goals so far this season and have not won a match since August of last year, but the club will hope that a fresh voice can spark a turnaround. One bright spot amid the difficult start has been defender Diego Konincks, who has played every available minute while contributing both a goal and an assist from the back line.
On the availability front, Harry Paton returned to Cavalry’s lineup last weekend after missing a match through injury, while Amer Didic completed a full match following his own lower-body issue, though questions still remain regarding his long-term durability after an injury-plagued 2025 season.
Meanwhile, Maël Henry will be unavailable for selection after travelling to Charlotte to join the Canada men's national soccer team training camp as a training player.
For Pacific, Eric Lajeunesse missed last week’s match against Inter Toronto FC and remains questionable heading into the weekend, while Juan Quintana will serve the first game of a three-match suspension following his red card for violent conduct in Pacific’s most recent outing.
