Cavalry delivered a dominant victory on Saturday afternoon against the Halifax Wanderers in a memorable afternoon at ATCO Field.

The Cavs' usual 4-2-3-1 lineup saw the return of Bradley Kamdem-Fewo after a two-match absence. The Frenchman immediately returned to his 2026 form, driving play down the wing and consistently supporting attacking efforts. Ali Musse was unavailable for Tommy Wheldon Jr.'s side, but Caniggia Elva proved to be a capable replacement, creating chances throughout the match but ultimately unable to find the back of the net. Elva's involvement saw Cavalry shift into a 4-4-2 shape at times, and the extra space allowed the midfield to move the ball forward with regularity.

On the other side, Vanni Sartini opted for a 4-2-3-1 formation, featuring a familiar back line and midfield but with changes in attack, as Jason Bahamboula returned to the starting lineup as a centre-forward. Elsewhere, Miguel Arilla made just his second start of 2026 and contributed more than 80 hard-fought minutes before being replaced by Lucas Olguin, who made his first appearance since a strong outing in late April.

The first half yielded few scoring opportunities for either side, but fans were treated to a competitive, back-and-forth contest that kept both teams searching for an opener. Nathan Ingham made a brilliant save on a chance from inside the box in the 18th minute, but it would prove to be the closest either team came to breaking the deadlock. Cavalry headed into halftime with a slight statistical edge, but the visitors had done enough to remain firmly in contention for a draw or even a lead.

The opening minutes of the second half brought dramatic changes to both the weather and the flow of the match. As the clouds overhead grew darker and scattered rain began to fall, Cavalry established a significant possession advantage and the Wanderers' hopes of building on a strong first half slowly began to fade.

After several Cavalry chances, Goteh Ntignee found himself in acres of space just outside the box following a poorly cleared corner and blasted the opening goal past Marco Carducci's right shoulder.

Shortly after, Adam Pearlman produced a spectacular individual run, battling past three Wanderers defenders. Once free, he found Daan Klomp alone in the box, and the defender calmly redirected the ball just inside the right post to double the home side's advantage. Pearlman was unquestionably the standout performer on the day and continued to demonstrate his importance to Cavalry in every phase of the game.

A result that remained in doubt through the opening 45 minutes was secured emphatically by Cavalry, who controlled long stretches of the second half.

With the victory, Cavalry momentarily returned to 1st before Forge's 4-1 dismantling of Inter Toronto on Sunday moved them back to second, just two points off their Hamilton rivals. Halifax falls to sixth in the standings with a 2-3-4 record and will look to close the gap on Atlético Ottawa and FC Supra in the coming weeks.

Looking ahead, both clubs will travel to Ontario for midweek matches, with the Wanderers visiting Forge and Cavalry taking on Inter Toronto on Wednesday, June 10.
