It's time for the second clash between Canada and Denmark in a women's international friendly: the two nations will face off in Toronto on Thanksgiving afternoon!
Here's everything you need to know heading into tomorrow's game!
The recent clash
This is the second of two international friendlies between Canada and Denmark, with Friday's battle in Montréal ending in a 1-1 draw that Canada later won on penalties.
It was a tale of two halves: after the first half went Denmark's way, ending with Pernille Harder's opener, Les Rouges turned it up in the second half, with Olivia Smith's goal and an unreal Sabrina D'Angelo save preserving a tie in regulation time.
The penalty shootout was fairly positive for Canada; they went four for four, with three NSL players (Zadorsky, Pridham, Hunter) converting their spot kicks.
Meanwhile, for the Danish, Janni Thomsen struck the post while Mille Gejl sent her penalty into the Stade Saputo seats, before Kaylee Hunter sealed Canada's shootout win.
Casey Stoney's substitutions gave Canada a new lineup, except for Shelina Zadorsky, who played the full 90.
Head-to-head
In competitive action, Canada holds a slight edge in the head-to-head record, with the hosts recording a 3-2-1 record against Denmark.
The two sides have played two unofficial games; one came in 2005, when Canada won 4-3 in a May friendly outside the FIFA International Window.
The other came in the early 2000s, with Denmark winning an uncapped training match.
The spotlight
Arsenal forward Olivia Smith is a player who should be closely watched for her performance.
The 22-year-old came on at the start of the second half and changed the game, creating the most chances with three and recording two shots on target. She also completed both dribbles she attempted, made four key passes, and recorded three successful long passes. She won all five of her ground duels and was fouled three times. The Arsenal forward has always had the potential to be a game-changer. One of Canada's biggest talents across both the men's and women's programs, Smith also became the first £1 million transfer after signing for Arsenal from Liverpool, and she looks like she belongs in the WSL. Fans have been waiting for big performances from Smith in the national team, and it seems she's ready to deliver. Projected to start tomorrow's game, she'll be under a lot of scrutiny as she faces this rising Danish team, but don't be surprised if the pundits sing her praises for her quality.
