A sunny Saturday afternoon will see Atlético Ottawa host Cavalry for the first time since the unforgettable 2025 CPL Final.

This will be the second meeting between the sides in 2026, with Cavalry claiming a 3-1 victory in a snowy clash back in April.

How Atlético Ottawa come into the match

Ottawa are coming off a 3-1 Canada Day victory away to Halifax. All three Atlético goals came in the first half, highlighted by a Gabriel Antinoro strike in the 26th minute that cruised past the near post. Ballou Tabla scored the other two goals, bringing his all-competitions total to eight in 2026 and moving him into a three-way tie for the CPL golden boot lead with five league goals.

This week, Atlético announced that Canadian Santiago López will return to Pumas UNAM of Liga MX after his loan expired at the end of June. López finished his time with Atlético with five appearances and one assist.

In addition, Canadian defender Julian Dunn has joined the squad for the remainder of the 2026 season. The 25-year-old played limited minutes with the Wanderers over the past two seasons and previously spent time in Toronto FC's system.

How Cavalry come into the match

Cavalry had last week's match against Supra postponed due to weather, meaning the side hasn't seen match action in more than three weeks. The club last played on June 10, when it defeated Inter Toronto 5-1.

Cavalry also made two roster moves during the extended break. The first sees captain Sergio Camargo remain with the club through 2028. Camargo has made 171 appearances and logged more than 11,000 minutes for Cavalry since joining the club in 2019.

The second move saw the mutual termination of Michael Harms' contract. The Calgarian made 11 appearances across five seasons but did not feature for Cavalry at all in 2026.
