York United is reinforcing its backline with the signing of Canadian defender Luke Singh, who joins on a two-year contract with a club option for an additional season.
The 24-year-old Brampton native returns home following a two-year stint with provincial rivals Atlético Ottawa. During his time there, he made 49 appearances and scored 1 goal, which went on to be named the best goal of the 2023 Canadian Premier League season.

Prior to his time with Ottléti, Singh played for the now-defunct FC Edmonton. In his three consecutive CPL campaigns, the defender racked up close to 6,000 minutes.
"Last season, I felt York were the toughest team to play against," said the Nine Stripes' new signing. "There was something in the mentality, you could feel it in every challenge. Every game was a battle. There seemed to be a sense of brotherhood to the group and it showed on the pitch. That definitely played a factor in me joining the club."
Singh spent a few years with Toronto, moving back and forth between the reserve and first teams.
Internationally, he represents the Trinidad and Tobago national team, making his debut in 2023 and recording 2 appearances.
