York United and the Halifax Wanderers will face off at Université Laval in Quebec City on May 31st as part of the Canadian Premier League’s “On Tour” series, aimed at testing the market for a potential expansion club.

The game will be broadcast nationally and internationally on OneSoccer, as well as on TSN, FuboTV, and Telus Optik Ch. 980.

"As we look to expand the footprint of the Canadian Premier League, there is no better way to assess the viability of a market than to bring our actual product to a prospective CPL city. We are thrilled to be taking this first step in the province of Quebec by bringing CPL ‘On Tour’ to Québec City," said Canadian Premier League commissioner Mark Noonan in a statement.

It won't be the first match of the "On Tour" series, with Vancouver FC and Cavalry playing out to a goalless draw in Kelowna last year, drawing an impressive 6,281 fans.

Telus Stadium at Laval University, home to the Laval Rouge et Or, is a 12,750-seat venue that has previously hosted several Vanier Cup games and multiple preseason Canadian Football League (CFL) matchups.

Ticket prices will be relatively affordable compared to other CPL matches, starting at $12 for adults and $8 for youth, with sales beginning on Friday, April 4 at noon ET / 9 am PT.

While both sides have no club connections to the province of Quebec, the match could potentially feature up to nine players who were born or raised there.

"With several Québec-born players on our team, this is a unique chance for them to play in front of family and friends, and for all of us to experience the incredible passion for soccer in the province," said Halifax Wanderers Founder and President Derek Martin. "A Wanderers match is one of the most unique sporting experiences in North America, and we’re thrilled to be able to bring a taste of that to such a special match in Québec City, a market we would love to play in as a visiting team someday."

"We’re delighted to be part of the ‘On Tour’ initiative, and to have the opportunity to play in this beautiful city with lots of potential is even more exciting." said Eduardo Pasquel, Chief Executive Officer at York United.
