When the Canadian Men's National Team takes the field at Stade Saputo this October, it will mark their first match in Montréal in over eight years.

Quite a long time.

Their last visit was anything but ordinary—it was the day a 16-year-old Alphonso Davies made his debut for Les Rouges.

On June 13, 2017, Canada hosted Curaçao in a friendly at Stade Saputo, securing a 2-1 victory with a late winner from Montréal Impact’s Anthony Jackson-Hamel.

Curaçao had opened the scoring just before halftime, but Manjrekar James equalized moments later to set up the comeback.

While it'll be the CanMNT's first game in Montréal in eight years, it won't be too long since they last trained there.

The team's players and staff visited several youth clubs in the region last fall. In addition, an open training session was held at Stade Saputo. More than 1,000 fans were in attendance for the weekday gathering.
